The more this election continues, the more I want to listen to Nirvana.
Perhaps it's because of the album title "Nevermind," as in "nevermind that Politician X is not the person you think he or she is," or "nevermind that we're so blanketed by the system that we wouldn't know change when it hit us in the face," but something in me wants to break out. To toss this entire endeavor on it's head. What change? What f'ing change? I'm not singling out Obama's campaign message; rather, entertaining the concept of change through systemic means. It doesn't make sense to me. How can you change a system by using the system? This is an exercise in mindfuckery.

Whatever. Nevermind. I think I'm going to go hug some pandas.

Love,

~Writer~

4. This thread Smells Like Nirvana.
What is this song all about?
Cant figure any lyrics out
How do the words to it go?
I wish youd tell me, I dont know
Dont know, dont know, dont know, oh no
Dont know, dont know, dont know...

Now Im mumblin and Im screamin
And I dont know what Im singin
Crank the volume, ears are bleedin
I still dont know what Im singin
Were so loud and incoherent
Boy, this oughta bug your parents
Yeah

Its unintel-ligible
I just cant get it through my skull
Its hard to bargle nawdle zouss(? )
With all these marbles in my mouth
Dont know, dont know, dont know, oh no
Dont know, dont know, dont know...

Well, we dont sound like madonna
Here we are now, were nirvana
Sing distinctly? we dont wanna
Buy our album, were nirvana
A garage band from seattle
Well, it sure beats raising cattle
Yeah

And I forgot the next verse
Oh well, I guess it pays to rehearse
The lyric sheets so hard to find
What are the words? oh, nevermind
Dont know, dont know, dont know, oh no
Dont know, dont know, dont know...

Well, Im yellin and were playin
But I dont know what Im sayin
Whats the message Im conveyin?
Can you tell me what Im sayin?
So have you got some idea?
Didnt think so -- well, Ill see ya
Sayonara, sayonara
Ayonawa, odinawa
Odinaya, yodinaya
Yaddayadda, yaaahyaaah
Ayaaaaaah!

14. I had no idea.
My husband and I have been listening to it lately.

We need a touch of that back in our social fold. For a short while at least.

15. It's all over but the shouting, it's a waste of time
More lyrics from that song

It's from 1987's Pleased to Meet Me album which is one of three albums they put out in the mid-80s that were among the greatest rock albums ever made.

18. I lived in Seattle 88-90
Saw lots of bands including Nirvana at the Central Tavern which was the bar next door to my work.

I came to the conclusion years ago that to completely 'get' Seattle bands you had to grow up in a basement and eat mushrooms all the time in 5th grade. The message is one of total alienation, which we were all feeling acutely at he end of the republican 80's.

I'm not sure your interpretaion is what Cobain would have intended.

But that's OK, nevermind.

BTW Polly wants a cracker.
