and I'm going to throw out a whole lot of 'what if's':

WHAT IF we are witnessing Dean's 50 state strategy

WHAT IF the goal is to allow voters to vote in 'competitive' races in all 50 states

WHAT IF by doing this, it ensures record turnout for Dems in November

WHAT IF when Hillary drops out, she urges everyone who voted for her to vote for Obama

WHAT IF she tells them they must fight for the Democratic Party just as she fought for them

WHAT IF superdelegates, Obama's campaign and the DNC are in on the plan?

WHAT IF those of us who have been fighting over the past several months finally come together?

WHAT IF Democrats outsmart the Republicans and by sheer volume, win the WH?

I've been trying to find a silver lining in all of the nuttiness going on right now; trying to figure out a reason why Hillary Clinton is hanging on even though it really is not possible for her to get the nomination. It is advantageous to our party if the voters in the remaining states (RED states) feel their votes will count for something. Hillary does have an enormous base of very loyal Democrats who have voted for her and I have no doubt if she calls on them to vote for Obama, they will do so.

This scenario is certainly possible and if my 'what ifs' turn out to be true, it'll not only put a Democrat in the WH, it will preserve the Clintons' standing as leaders of the Democratic Party.

3. Whew!
I'm glad someone thinks so - I was beginning to question my sanity. This primary season has been something else. :hi:

5. Hillary should stay in
if she can drop the David Duke/ Obama can't win/ McCain is better than Obama crap... but she can't. The Clintons can't control themselves. On of the reasons they would be nightmares as VPs. The Clintons lost the nomination, and it is time for them to pack it up. We have hit the point of diminishing returns.

13. If she's out there saying "I'm the only one who can get the White Christian American voters"
Doesn't that sound like something David DuKKKe would say?

Unfortunately there is some truth to it.

17. By "you guys" do you mean "people who used to vote for, send money to and defend the Clintons?"
Because that's me. I was for Richardson, and if he implied that Hillary or Obama shouldn't get the nomination because they won't win Hispanics, that he was the only one who could win hispanics, I would think he was an idiot.

7. WHAT IF she's staying in because,
as his "opponent" she can continue to tear him down, and if she gets out, she has to support him or at least be quiet? And she doesn't want to do that.

She's looking at 2012.

None of this is good for the party at this point.

So - your post is, unfortunately, a FANTASY.

10. I'd believe it only if Clinton and her gang of thugs changed their tone and went positive...
and basically said "I'm in it to win it but Obama is a great choice too. WE are all in this together. Now let's talk policy."

Instead she's talking about how whites somehow won't vote for Obama when they already are.

12. "..it will preserve the Clintons' standing as leaders of the Democratic Party."
And there's the problem. The Clintons and the DLC need to GO. They are part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Your "what if's" might be plausible with some other candidate. But with Hillary, it's all about entitlement and continuation of the corporatocracy. And we need to move on from this 28 year disaster and restore this country AND this party.

I'm weary of all the in-fighting and guess it is just wishful thinking.

18. Thank you for this post! All those people voting in every state now have stake in how this
election turns out. They haven't been able to participate for so long having two candidates who are both fine people to vote for. (Dems that is)

I think all those folks now feel at last they are part of whatever system of government we have left.

That 50 State Strategy just might be why Hillary is staying in until the last person has had a chance. She should be commended for that..rather than ripped apart.

Thanks...for the perspective!

19. I hope it's true -
and not just wishful thinking on my part. There is a definite advantage to making sure every voter gets their change to take part and doesn't feel left out of the process. :hi:

20. Not bad, except for one
"WHAT IF superdelegates, Obama's campaign and the DNC are in on the plan?"

No way could that many people keep a lid on a plot like this. So I doubt they're in on anything.

22. It could explain why the SDs aren't ending it -
which they very well could do. It's as if they want it to go on until all states have voted.

if she is going to continue the self cannibalisms of the democratic party then fuck that.

Sure it's not all planned like that, but much of what you say is true. I find the negativity around here to be seriously wasted energy.
