Hillary today: "...and I was NEVER supposed to win Indiana."
Edited on Thu May-08-08 01:26 PM by jenmito
Really?: "The survey, conducted by Indianapolis-based TeleResearch Corp. and released exclusively to 6News, showed Clinton with a 10-point lead over Obama in Indiana -- 48 percent to 38 percent -- with 14 percent of respondents undecided. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percent."

She actually won by less than expected by most polls. When will she get called on her false claims?

The proximity had to do with being in the Chicago media market.
Much like CT/NJ were Hillary country because of its proximity to the NY media market.

39. I am a native born Hoosier
It's true that NW Indiana is in the Chicago media market. It is also true that Seymour Indiana was the home of a Grand Dragon of the Klu Klux Klan. Many areas were very racist in the 1960s/1970s.

Even in NW Indiana, some of those southern areas of Lake County were racist in the 1960s. I lived in one. I remember a neighbor with a petition to warm a black couple against moving into our lower middle class town - shocked that my mom wouldn't sign. There were also implicit threats - We had a volunteer fire department. No official ever said they wouldn't come. But the volunteer part was mentioned. The parents that circulated those things would now be in their 70s - and this was NOT the commonly thought of "racist" area of Indiana.

What to me is amazing is the degree of change on this from generation to generation.

Not to mention - Hillary won by 1.1% of the vote. The difference could even be due to Rush Limbaugh and the superdelegates know that.

24. LOL! Evan Bayh's state, her vp in waiting???
she wasn't supposed to win the state of the guy who has been campaigning to be her vp since last year?!?!?

Only one poll, zogby, gave Obama a chance there and all the Hillary supporters here said zogby was nutty because she was going to take the state.

But, as MacAuliffe noted, she DID win - the most dirt! Not the population of Indiana, but she did win landmass of the corn vote! Not that corn can vote, but what does that matter? What does it matter that the economic and population centers all went for Obama? That 87% of the population under 65 voted for Obama? Why were her returns all in so early in Indiana anyway? Funny business? Or... the areas she carried were so sparsely populated that they just had to send in the results for those 20 voters?? (that's an exaggeration for effect, not meant to represent actual figures, for the irony impaired.)

53. Why I believe this Primary will never end ("WHO REALLY BELIEVES HER?...THEY WILL STOP AT NOTHING")
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=5841286&mesg_id=5841286  by crankychatter
This Primary contest is not about these two candidates. It is about what these two candidates represent... the principles they embody. This contest is far older than the Primary itself and will continue through the General Election and beyond.

The Clintons brought us Media deregulation. They brought us NAFTA, CAFTA and a "War on the Poor," that was Ronald Reagan's "wet dream." Senator Clinton's voting record on the IWR, the PATRIOT Act, the exportation of cluster bombs and land mines, the identification of Iran's Republican Guard as a "Terrorist Organization," giving Bush a blank check for expanded conflict in the region: ALL of these actions conflict with what she declares she stands for now... WHO REALLY BELIEVES HER?

There is an evil symbiosis between our elected officials and the PACs that fund their campaigns. This symbiosis is evidenced by the contradictions between Senator Clinton's actions and her words. This symbiosis is institutionalized, in the agency of the D.L.C.. This relationship is at the heart of EVERY regressive policy of the United States Government... every covert act of our Defense Establishment... and the perpetuation of extractive, exploitive, neoliberalism by law and execution.

This corruption is at the heart of this battle. It has been since the 50's.
...
The neoconservatives that hijacked our government in the last seven years, have bet EVERYTHING... they have BET THE FARM.... OUR FARM... on their global adventure for Corporate Dominion. Their vision makes Hitler's Thousand Year Reich look like a college fraternity. They don't give a damn about the Democratic Party or even Conservative principles.
...
THEY WILL STOP AT NOTHING.
...

62. She also said in that same spill she won Texas
Texas, as we all know, was a two-step process. She initially won by a few points in the primary; but Barack Obama won the caucus, and ended up getting the most delegates from that two-step process.

63. Oh fer fuck's sake, Hillary. Stop lying.
I used to have so much respect for her, and every week in this campaign she's slowly hammered it all away into embarrassed disgust.

65. You post polls a few days before the election. Your post is a bunch of crap-
Look at the polls from farther back in the campaign.

you folks will even make yourselfs look like fools just to smear her.

69. If you want to talk about polls from further back, Hillary was winning EVERYWHERE!
And how do you feel now about the Zogby poll I posted showing Obama winning NC by 14? IIRC you ridiculed it. :hi:

68.  What a disgrace she has become to the party
Edited on Thu May-08-08 02:36 PM by Upton
Every time she opens her mouth another lie comes out, at least we'll soon be done with her.

72. That's because she clearly no longer CARES about the party. Like Lieberman, it's now all
about HER.

71. I just got an email from Bill Clinton calling IN a "come-from-behind victory..."
"...We have had a lot of success in this campaign, and our come-from-behind victory in Indiana is the latest example of how Hillary wins when she has your support behind her. As long as you share her commitment to winning, this race is going to continue..."

78. I'm sending this one out to HRC once again
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
When the skies of November turn gloomy.

With a load of iron ore - 26,000 tons more
Than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty
That good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
When the gales of November came early

The ship was the pride of the American side
Coming back from some mill in Wisconson
As the big freighters go it was bigger than most
With a crew and the Captain well seasoned.

Concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
When they left fully loaded for Cleveland
And later that night when the ships bell rang
Could it be the North Wind they'd been feeling.

The wind in the wires made a tattletale sound
And a wave broke over the railing
And every man knew, as the Captain did, too,
T'was the witch of November come stealing.

The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
When the gales of November came slashing
When afternoon came it was freezing rain
In the face of a hurricane West Wind

When supper time came the old cook came on deck
Saying fellows it's too rough to feed ya
At 7PM a main hatchway caved in
He said fellas it's been good to know ya.

The Captain wired in he had water coming in
And the good ship and crew was in peril
And later that night when his lights went out of sight
Came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Does anyone know where the love of God goes
When the words turn the minutes to hours
The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay
If they'd fifteen more miles behind her.

They might have split up or they might have capsized
They may have broke deep and took water
And all that remains is the faces and the names
Of the wives and the sons and the daughters.

Lake Huron rolls, Superior sings
In the ruins of her ice water mansion
Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams,
The islands and bays are for sportsmen.

And farther below Lake Ontario
Takes in what Lake Erie can send her
And the iron boats go as the mariners all know
With the gales of November remembered.

In a musty old hall in Detroit they prayed
In the Maritime Sailors' Cathedral
The church bell chimed, 'til it rang 29 times
For each man on the Edmund Fitzgerald.

The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they say, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early
