Some comments heard from some of my GOP "friends"

I am beginning to think they really don't want the WH but would rather see the shit hit the fan with a Dem in the WH. Well, there is plenty of shit out there to hit the fan. I am beginning to wonder myself.

4. The shit has already done hit the fan and people are getting

splattered with it right and left.

5. Our Dem needs to lay it on the line about

all we're going to face, and give REALISTIC goals. We can't pretend that we can fix it all, because we can't. We need to make that clear going in otherwise it'll be like when we elected the Dems to Congress and sat back waiting for the miracles to occur.

This is why I really liked Obama standing against the gas tax holiday - we can handle the truth.

6. There will be a lot of shit to deal with.

I did say a few years ago that whoever the next president is, esp. if it's a Dem who tries to clean up the shit, is going to have a miserable presidency - too much crap to deal with, and they're gonna get blamed for a lot of it, even though it wasn't his/her fault.

Whoever is next could very well be a one-termer, simply because they won't be able to remove the pile of shit and people will be impatient and refusing to understand that the pile was so overwhelmingly huge to begin with that making a dent is all one person could do.

However, I have hope that Obama can handle it - he's perhaps outside-the-box enough, and willing enough to speak the truth ("No, this was Bush's legacy, not mine") that he could both get stuff done AND avoid the nastiness.

I think he has the potential to go down in history as one of our best presidents. But he's also inheriting trillions in debt, two wars (and maybe three), an economy in the shitter, an infrastructure that's falling apart, and a Republican fake-Christian horde that is prepared to ramp its engines of hate and intolerance as soon as the "elitist black guy" is sworn in.

.. and I think they've found a way. A divisive nomination fight resulting in an unwinnable candidate.

the problem is that they aren't going to be able to pin it on Obama. Everyone knows who made this mess.
