It's Time To Follow Obama
The time has come for the idle threats to stop. Too many people are saying, "Obama ought to do this,..." or "I won't vote for Obama unless..." or "If Obama does/does not pay off Clinton's debt..." or "If Obama picks (candidate X) for V.P., I'll..."

Obama has proven his worth. He has shown us he can lead. He has demonstrated wisdom and seasoned judgment. Not only has he endured an onslaught of dissent and attack, he has done so with grace and dignity. He has taken potentially campaign-ending events and used them to unify the country and solidify his support.

He does not need our humble opinions, and yet, he listens to all, with respect.

But the one thing he does need from us all is our support and our commitment. He needs us to want to change America. He needs us to hope for change.

He needs us to serve in his General Election campaign: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/actioncenter

He needs you to make phone calls.

He needs you to become involved in your community.

He needs you to get your friends involved.

He has provided a handy little guide for getting started: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/actionguide

And he has provided you a solid infrastructure from which you can provide your support: http://my.barackobama.com/

Together we can bring America together as one, to leave behind the divisiveness of the past and to move, all of us, forward into a new age.

We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no
matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can withstand the
power of millions of voices calling for change.

It will not be easy. The road we have to travel will be long. But together, with the millions of other Americans who are already volunteering and donating, you can share the burden as one, powerful voice. One voice issuing a single, simple creed that sums up the spirit of America: Yes we can.

3. Obama doesn't need followers, he needs supporters who are conditional in their support of him...
work to get him elected, yes, that should be the goal, then oppose him while he serves in office. But for all that matters in this world, do not become a "follower", that road leads to stupidity.

There's already a party that abhors dissent, and I don't belong to it.

9. That would be calling out another DUer
and the thread was also locked.

Do a search for "constructive criticism" in GDP, you'll find it.

Well, now that you've broken the rules
and posted the link, everyone can draw their own conclusions.

Since all you ever do is downplay, deride and dismiss (God, you're tiresome. Do you know that?), I'm certainly not going to accept your interpretation of pretty much anything. And it looks like the mods agreed with me.

15. Harvey, if all you do is make things up and act like a drama queen...
Well sure I'm going to dismiss that.

I'd expect the same of other people if I acted so poorly.

16. There you go with the Q word again, thinkin' you're so under the radar
Do me a favor: go pick out an outfit for the Obama rally you waited all day for, and stop stalking me as if I give two shits about your opinion on my standard of conduct.

And just ignore what everyone else says: YOU'RE SUPER COOL!

18. Q word? FTW?

"Do me a favor: go pick out an outfit for the Obama rally you waited all day for"

You mean the one I waited for about 15 minutes for? After lunch?

Gee whiz, maybe I'll wear my pocket protector and my lab coat, and my dashiki.

"stop stalking me"

I asked for a link!

Thanks for proving my point.

"And just ignore what everyone else says: YOU'RE SUPER COOL!"

Oh my. What does everyone else say?

8. Dissent is the only thing keeping Democracy in check...
if Obama lives up to his standard of listening to people, and actually using that advice to advance certain causes, more power to him. But we shouldn't assume that he will do that on his own, he needs opponents who want the best for the country, not the best for him alone.

I wrote an OP about it a few hours ago, no surprise, only two people responded to the typo I made in the subject line:

And that's frankly all you and others on your team have the right to ask for after this (still continuing) hatefest.

21. Agreed
One of the things I like about Obama is his tendency to seek opinions from people who disagree with him, as well as his commitment to giving citizens a voice in government again. To suggest that we should blindly follow him without offering input runs counter to everything he and his campaign stand for.
