5. Where's my $30?!?!!?
And why aren't HRC's supporters pushing for it? Last week, anyone who opposed it was sentencing children to die of starvation. This week? 'Screw 'em.'

so it would be more like seventeen bucks

7. I thought she'd openly abandoned the idea ...
... earlier this week (after she'd been called on it by economists, etc.), on the basis that "Bush would veto it anyway, so ..."

So why did she bring it up in the first place, if she knew he'd veto it?

21. Yeah.
I stand to be corrected (or I'll be corrected sitting down, if I have a preference), but I thought I'd read this on DU earlier this week - that she'd dismissed the whole idea because she "knew" Bush would veto in the end, so what was the point of pursuing it.

Which, of course, begs the question as to why she brought it up as a viable idea in the first place.

The idea didn't fly early-on, so it's on to the next attempt to gain traction, I guess.

8. Right, Poverty Czar, gas tax rebate......
Is she medicated?? I understand there are some sleeping meds that can cause some problems with perception and intellectual functioning....

This is not a troll. It DOES seem awfully weird that she dumps these quick fixes this fast....

11. She pandered to Indiana, it didn't work so now she is going racist for southern states
Edited on Fri May-09-08 08:39 PM by Johnny__Motown
I don't think she believes this racist crap any more than she thought the gas tax would help anyone. But she will use it to try and get votes anyways

12. For the first time, walking away from my computer actually made me angrier!
Now wait a second--

I want some answers.

All of the poo that was flung at us for a week (or longer) about being 'elitists' because most of us knew this was a bad idea--and now "poof".

Gone.

Forgotten.

Where's *my* apology for that?

Naw ... I don't want an apology, but some people are gonna have to look at themselves really hard in the mirror after doing the keyboard commando thing here and then letting HRC drop it like it never happened.

19. Last I heard she had thrown in the towel on that. Too hard, because Bush would veto it.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080506/pl_nm/usa_politics_clinton_tax_dc

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton admitted on Monday it would be tough to lift the federal gasoline tax this summer as she has proposed because of a likely veto from President George W. Bush.

Apparently the subject had served it's purpose.
