Suggestion for 2012 Primary
Abolish the so-called super delegates. They have proven to be useless when needed.

Go to "winner take all" in all state primaries and caucuses.

Had we done that this year, we would have had a nominee weeks ago -- and we would be on our way to a sweeping victory in November. Instead we have ..... this !

1. winner take all is too much like the electoral college system
proportional without superdelegates would be better.

but I would prefer all primaries rather than caucuses.

2. Whoa there fella
SDs should go bye bye
Caucuses should be nixed
Rotate which states go first

But take that Republican idea of winner takes all and file it somewhere. If I wanted to be like Republicans I would join that party. No need for Nominees with mile wide inch deep support in our party.

3. I don't mind the primaries AND caucuses--I mind them taking six months
This could have been settled in half the time.

I think it's the convention that's useless. The person who gets the most delegates first wins. Why spend time and money on a coronation?

4. Won't be relevant, as President Obama will not be challenged for a second term.
And 2016 is a long way off.

8. Great point!
The rules should still be changed though. As symbolic of realizing that they aren't perfect and need to be tweaked.

6. Follow Pelosi's suggestion
There's nothing wrong with superdelegates. The Republican Party has them too. The REAL problem is that there are too many superdelegates. I like Pelosi's suggestion of trimming the number of superdelegates down. Maybe just members of Congress and governors. Too many non-elected officials who are superdelegates which make this process look shady, especially since Hillary had the vast majority of those endorsements, making it look like it was more out of loyalty to the Clintons than anything else.

10. Eliminate caucuses or decide the final delegates right there at larger caucuses.

12. I agree about eliminating super delegates.
I would support a compromise between Winner Take All/proportional allocation - Winner Take All if a candidate exceeds 50% of the state's primary vote/proportional allocation if no candidate reaches 50%. A candidate shouldn't get all of a state's delegates if they only get 31% of the vote in a four man race.

I would favor eliminating caucuses entirely.

13. System Reform
Keep the Superdelegates as members of Congress and Govenors ex-presidents and vice presidents. Eliminating half of the super delegates.

No winner take all. Proportional stays.

Keep the rules for order states can go in. Smaller states first than larger states.

14. Here is what I thik should be done in 2016
1> Either one National Primary day or 3 - 6 Regional Primary days

2> Super delegates = 1/2 vote and are limited to:
Dem House Members
Dem Senate Members
Dem Governors
Dem Lt Governors
Former Dem Presidents
Former Dem Vice Presidents
Former Dem nominees for President
Former Dem nominees for Vice President
50 DNC past and present officials

This makes elected leaders and party officials delegates at the convention, but their impact would be pretty minimal

3> Keep Pledged delegate allocation as it is -- a representation of Democratic voters from past 3 presidential elections--bonuses only apply in the case of regional Primaries.

4> No winner take all

15. Regional Primaries over a two week period, no SDs
4 regional primaries and don't report election results until every vote is counted.
