Obama “Jam Packed” Rally

Those of us who recognize Moose Poop when we see it, already know that Barack Obama is a media creation and a con. Everything he says and everything he does is part of the special effects and The Show - including his “packed” rallies.

“Reynolds Coliseum on N.C. State’s campus seats 12,400 people. It did not seat that many tonight.”

Behold, the power of political staging:

As Seen On TV:

This is the Coliseum, all crowded with hooting and hollering Yes We Can-Can!!

Barack Obama packs ‘em in again!

People kill to get into an Obama Rally!

Not As Seen On TV:

This is what the other side of the Coliseum looked like.

“Those tables in between my position and the rally you saw on TV are about a quarter full of milling, bored, tired reporters.

The rally took up maybe a quarter of the floor space in the arena.

Part of running a decent campaign is knowing how big a crowd you might have and planning accordingly so as not to embarrass yourselves with a woefully understuffed venue.”

Any questions?

3. Where was that post from a couple days ago saying Hillary couldnt fill 1,200 seats?
They had to fold them up so she could seat 600.

5. Medford, OR
Just down the freeway from Eugene, where Obama drew 9,000 last night, where I couldn't get anywhere near the place it was so crazy.

6. The Obama campaign announced (before that rally took place) that Obama...
....was going to be speaking to smaller crowds.

Has Clinton ever made such a statement, or is she just a poor draw?

Obama isn't anywhere near the podium. No one is onstage....

Someone who was there said it was packed...

Is this all you have??

hillary lost. please, lets focus on the GE.

oh, and btw...

when i went to see bill clinton speak it was done similarly... only part of the gym was open to people sitting (2/3rds of the gym was closed off) and cameras were set up looking a certain direction with banners hung to fit in the picture.

12. My understanding
Someone else posted this here earlier, and explained that Obama's campaign expected North Carolina to be closer than it was and did not expect it to be called right away. They also did not expect Indiana to be so close (nobody did). Once North Carolina was called, they decided Obama should speak while he was still ahead, before Clinton was declared the winner in Indiana. So he spoke earlier than expected, when many people had just finished campaigning and hadn't yet arrived at the speech. That was just another DU'er's account, but it makes sense, since Obama spoke much earlier than he usually speaks on election nights (and he usually never speaks first, win or lose).

I know tickets for the speech got snatched up quickly, and it does not make sense that so many people would just not show up (that's never happened before, or since).

24. It's a victory party for volunteers
Not a public rally. You're trying to make Obama look bad, but you're just making yourself look petty and small.

13. That's not a rally, that's the group gathered to celebrate the NC Primary results
NC was called for Obama before people who were working for him could get to this event, which was planned for later in the evening because they expected the results to come in slowly, not have the entire thing called for him by 8:00.

Some of our polls closed at 7:30 and they called it for him by 8:00 or so, they even said on the news in NC that they were taken so off guard that the announcement that he won the state was made to an almost empty coliseum, apparently even before these pictures were taken.

14. In Ohio we saw Obama hold townhalls with much less attendance than ther was demand -he wanted more
Edited on Sat May-10-08 10:03 PM by mod mom
I don't understand this except that he wanted a more intimate dialogue. We had so many people show up w/o tickets just to catch a glimpse and this was on a Sunday morning at 9 am.

Believe what you like, we could have filled a much larger venue.

23. Little known Obama fact.
He used to sneak into Iowa to meet with his activists. If word got around, there'd be huge crowds, so he kept it on the quiet.

He loves speaking to small groups and taking questions.

17. Hillary's Southern Oregon Visit a Bust
"With little more than half of the 1,200-capacity-arena occupied, campaign organizers removed seats as Clinton supporters waited for her arrival for a town hall meeting."

Are you trying to convince me of something?.?.?

I think you're just jealous that Barack can fill the house.

Barack filled up the Tarrant County Convention Center, I should know I was there. There was also a spill over crowd.

Nice try, tho.
