Let's discuss Michigan's 238,168 Uncommitted votes
http://miboecfr.nictusa.com/election/results/08PPR/01000000.html

I voted Uncommitted on this ballot so clearly, I am bias.

The Clinton campaign dismisses these votes as they try to use the popular vote as an argument for her nomination. I would suggest that these 238,168 votes should be factored in as an Unpopular vote.

I understand that these can't be counted as Pro 'Bama votes but if we reverse the way we look at the popular vote it is possible to look at these as votes against Sen. Clinton.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/democratic_vote_count.html

If you use these numbers, including Florida and Michigan, then over 350,000 fewer people have voted AGAINST Sen. Obama than have voted against Sen. Clinton.

Hillary has a huge lead in the Unpopular vote, possibly an insurmountable lead.

*DISCLAIMER* I am simply forwarding a talking point to help combat the popular vote talking point that will be pushed harder and harder after Puerto Rico votes.

1. Clearly, it was a "None of the Above" vote.
That's the closest thing to an "Against" vote you'll find.

HOWEVER ... it's NOT about delegates!! It's about prohibiting spending campaign money in Michigan and facing the voters of Michigan!! It's an exercise in political necrophilia to argue over 'delegates' who haven't been DELEGATED by the people of Michigan after their support was EARNED by a candidate. It has no more ethical legitimacy than American Idol.

2. Yes, and the only serious "above" was Hillary... so clearly it was a not Hillary vote

I agree it has no ethical legitimacy, just trying to combat one talking point with another.

3. Good point...
If we have to resort to horse trading, there's no way a single uncommitted should go to Hillary - they already had a chance to vote for her. And the rest of the non-Hillary votes went to Kucinich - just a couple thousand. So the fair thing to do is let Kucinich decide where his should go.

5. Regardless of how you view the uncommited votes, it's beyond dispute 328,309 people voted for her.

6. Because she was the only viable candidate on the ballot
I know plenty of people who didn't vote because Obama wasn't on the ballot, and they will vote in November for Obama, because he is the nominee
