Serious question: If you won't vote for the nominee, why are you still here?
If you'll only vote for your choice in the GE, is DU really the place for you? Most of us strongly support our chosen candidate, but will still vote for the Dem in the GE. Why would someone invest so much of their passion in this hotbed of Dem activism to turn around and throw it away when it really would count?

No criticism intended for any particular campaign, just wondering about some individual choices being proposed on this board.

1. hell hath no fury...
these people are merely demonstrating a keen lack of maturity and inability to listen to logic; they seek only to destroy. the vote for mccain is just meant to damage people on the internet who they believe hurt them.

reminds me of a well known quote

hell hath no fury...

2. They aren't really that stupid.
They will be voting for Obama in November, regardless of what they say now.

9. What's so funny
is we've had far more threads on the subject than there've been people saying they won't vote for Obama. It's just another way to slam Clinton supporters.

16. These aren't attempts to convince anybody
of anything. They're attempts to portray Clinton supporters as "bad democrats". It's just silly. If Clinton were the nominee, far more Obama supporters would be threatening to leave the party.

20. So you guys
can falsely call the Clintons racists, but Obama is immune from criticism?

This is a campaign - they're running against each other. It's naive to expect one side and one side only to "play nice".

28. lol
Your side has spent months dragging every right-wing lie and smear about the Clintons here, and I'm hurting the democrats?

I'm the guy that has argued for a year that we shouldn't be slamming democrats on this board. I've argued, unsuccessfully, that we should support our candidates without tearing down the others. I've never started a thread attacking a candidate, and I certainly haven't dredged up right-wing lies and smears like your side has.

And I'm hurting democrats? You're laughable.

12. There is no nominee yet, therefore all sides can still post here.
Please do not be so presumptuous as to ask why other DUers are on here posting. The rules are clear, once a Nominee has been identified, then DU will not tolerate negative comments against the candidate.

I support Obama, but please, hold on to your reigns. The Primary is not over yet, who knows how the SDs will swing! Please do not count your eggs before they are hatched!

15. The primary is over for all intents and purposes
it is this thing called math... and not even that difficult, rather it is basic arithmetic

She could get it, if she gets 75% + of the vote in every coming contest, EVERY ONE

I can buy 60+ in WV, and probably Kentucky, but after that... you kidding me? And it is not enough.

So it is essentially over. The owner of this site has chosen NOT to go there, but every objective observer that can do fourth grade math realizes this reality...

The primary is over.

19. Hillary's supporters have been at war with DU for 16 months
Edited on Mon May-12-08 01:55 AM by TexasObserver
Since January, that war has become more refined, to become a war on Obama and his supporters.

They presumed they would be running off everyone who would not support Hillary, so their loss is far beyond Hillary's. Now that it's down to support the party or leave, they're going to sling crap left and right until there are mass extinctions for doing just that.

Oh well, within the next few weeks, they'll be reformed or gone, one or the other.

Edited on Mon May-12-08 02:32 AM by depakid
though I have to admit, looking back at some of the shallower Hillary inevitability posts (particularly the ones that spammed the boards every day with cheap and bogus media polls) I notice that those posters are scarce if not gone.

Finally last fall, I had to put a couple of them on ignore- something I'd never done in 7 years on DU. Wasn't anything they said- its just that they cluttered up the board with the same vacuous material every day.

Three cheers for the 3 posts rule!

21. To bitch, moan, revel in griefer spells and piss in the party's Cheerios™...
...because they're upset that their choice isn't the party's choice.

It's simply sad to see. It reminds me of when Rudy Giuliani lost his first mayoral bid against NY's African American mayor David Dinkins—there was a group of NY'ers so incensed that Rudy lost (and over WHO and WHAT he lost to...) that all they did was mercilessly snipe from the day he was inaugurated and went so far as one borough—the city's Whitest—to begin secession preceedings.

Staten Island actually put crazy, self-destructive steps in motion to secede from NY because Rudy didn't win. Of course, as soon as he did win after Dinkins' one term, all of a sudden, it was okay to be a part of NY again and they dropped their plans.

Spite is a remarkable and almost always sickening thing to watch in action.

24. To be fair...
...one can't out them ALL on ignore. The function is meant to be a last resort.

The problem is that there are so many once-respected folks here who've gone around the band—particularly since the NC/IN primaries that I've found myself having to put a bunch of these loss-twisted griefers in the “Red X” box just to get through the board without getting venom on me.

I don't know if these folks were always so emotionally fragile or if the stakes and over-identifying with the personalities involved in the primaries has un-tethered them, but my God...it's just sad. Sad.
