unlike anything I have seen in my 31 years of active political participation in this State. He has captured the imagination and mint fresh optimism of young voters from Coeur d’Alene to Caldwell, from Murphy to Montpelier, from Twin Falls to Idaho Falls. I firmly believe that the critical process of rebuilding the Idaho Democratic Party will receive a once in a lifetime boost from Senator Obama’s candidacy.”

--Idaho Chair Keith Roark

So far today, that's 4 SD's for Obama.
Keith Roark from Idaho
Dolly Strazar and Daniel Akaka from Hawai'i
Tom Allen of Maine

8. LOL
Bush won over Kerry 69% to 30% in Idaho. It's not turning blue any time soon.

11. Do me a favor...
Don't throw buckets of cold water on our new Democratic enthusiasm here in this very RED state. I understand you have an agenda to support but WE are trying too turn a corner here. Just in case you don't realize it, Idaho used to be a true BLUE state with some great state and federal Democratic leaders. We were also one of the first states where workers bled and were locked in prison "camps" by federal government soldiers for trying to build a union. So if its all the same to you - could you go piss one someone else's campfire?

14. If you want to believe that
Idaho is going blue, knock yourself out.

But I'm still going to laugh at the assertion. No offense meant, but the notion that this OP indicates Idaho is going to vote Democratic is just laughable.

15. It's somewhat laughable to infer that the other poster wrote that Idaho would vote Democratic.
A handful of western states will be considerably less red by November, and that is a good thing, right?

25. Actually, this could help on the state and local level
Also, it's useful to recall that Idaho wasn't always such an embarrassment.

Cecil Andrus and Frank Church both hailed from Idaho.

34. And if we take Iowa it will mean a 50-state sweep.
If Iowa went blue, McCain wouldn't even hold AZ.

It's very possible. Very possible. You are not facing up to realiy again. The country is ANGRY!

Just look at the turnout that Clinton and Obama have generated in a PRIMARY race!

It could easily be a sweep. All it takes is for the Hillary wing to get on board with the movement.

18. Don't let it get to you. Clinton supporters HAVE to get the "it's hopeless" thing out there...
... It's all they have.

We all know perfectly well the challenges involved in getting ID to go blue in the GE. Clinton supporters don't even want us to try.

24. Pissing on other's campfires is all Monkey has left, Blue
Keith Roark never stated that he believed Idaho was going to vote Democratic in the General Election. He spoke of the boost to party rebuilding that we have received this year due in large part to Obama's refusal to write "doesn't matter" on the Idaho map, unlike Senator Clinton. And it is with steady rebuilding that we can move Idaho back into the blue column where it was during the era of Frank Church and Cecil Andrus.

“The unprecedented enthusiasm Senator Obama has generated here in Idaho is unlike anything I have seen in my 31 years of active political participation in this State.

Roark said, “I believe that both Senator Clinton and Senator Obama are exceptionally gifted leaders who can and will begin immediately to undo the damage that eight years of the unholy Bush-Cheney-Rove trinity has brought to our country. Both candidates are vastly superior to the presumptive Republican nominee” and his hesitation to define his vote was about who was the better campaigner. “My lingering concerns about Senator Obama’s ability to take hard punches and keep going were laid to rest with the results of the primary contests last week in North Carolina and Indiana.”

32. Nah
it's a good endorsement for Obama! Good for him.

But I was responding to somebody saying "Idaho WAS red". I'm simply saying Idaho will stay red. That's all.

16. you're kind of being an ass
one thing you forget. it doesn't HAVE to be a blue state. even if it is way, way more competitive that will equal more time and money McCain and GOP politicians on the ballot will have to expend as they try to protect home turf.

If that's the case, I see no reason why Obama can't be optimistic about Idaho...

17. it's interesting. drip. drip. drip. they are sending a BIG message to her
that this isn't turning around and not going away so she can choose how humiliating it is when she finally withdraws. Either do it earlier and recognize the obvious....or let it slowly drag out and further diminish her stature within the party and reduce her chances to be a power player.

31. 50 state strategy. There are more of us than you think out there.
I'm not naive enough to believe Obama can take Idaho but he can at least give the progressives in that state a voice and get them to stand up. It would be nice to see at least an opposition there and in every traditionally super red state.
