He sometimes wears one that a soldier gave to him. Probably someone gave it to him in the crowd and he put it on.

He's never come out and said I hate Flag Pins.

13. "He's never come out and said I hate Flag Pins."
Of course he has. He was taught to hate flag pins at the al qaeda madrassa where he was indoctrinated into the secret jihad by crazy rev. wright. I heard him say it on Fox News.

18. Remember it's not the pin that makes the patriot. Yes, he was.

29. The reason I asked is because this morning on Morning Joe
(yes, that was my first mistake of the day) they were talking about how he wouldn't wear the flag pin and Chris Matthews was making a big deal out of it- he basically said that because it's so regal when draped over coffins, so beautiful as a national symbol, that Barack not wearing one let some people think he was for flag burning. (Yes, that really happened) Chris then went on to tell everyone that like most proud Americans, he and his family always have a flag on their front porch. He said he didn't think Barack could get elected if he did not start showing his patriotism.

So when I saw him wearing the flag pin it took me back to that little speech this AM.

2. I have seen him wear one once
A disabled vet presented him with one maybe a month ago, a few days before the debate on ABC and he wore it that day.

5. Why would anyone flame you for asking that?
I posted this morning he should start wearing one just to shut up all the people who ask why he doesn't.

It seems though, if he does wear one, people will question the motive. The guy can't win.

not a flame, really, but who cares about this any more?

The flag pin is one of those things used to distract us from the issues that need to be discussed.

Obama sporting flag pin as he campaigns in W. Virginia
By Margaret Talev | McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON — Barack Obama, who labeled discussion of whether he wears a flag pin in his lapel a false issue in a debate with Hillary Clinton, was wearing one Monday as he campaigned in West Virginia ahead of Tuesday's primary vote there.

Obama made no reference to the pin, which could be clearly seen in television images and through telephoto lenses as he spoke in Charleston, W. Va., about veterans issue. There was no public comment from his campaign.

Monday morning, pollster and former Bill Clinton adviser Douglas Schoen wrote in an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal that Obama needs to better define his values heading into the general election. “First, and obviously symbolically, he must start wearing the flag lapel pin,” Schoen wrote. “He simply cannot afford to raise doubts about his patriotism.”

Although Obama sometimes wears the pin, more often he doesn’t. And he’s long insisted on being a different kind of politician who doesn’t resort to gimmicks or give in to pressure to conform to the status quo.

9. I am guessing that if he was, it was the flag pin given to him by a vet
and his speech today was primarily focused on veteran issues.

Here is a link re the flag pin given by a vet:

WASHINGTON, Pennsylvania (CNN) –- For the first time since a mini dust-up back in October, Democrat Barack Obama wore an American flag pin Tuesday at a town hall meeting with veterans in Pennsylvania.

But he didn't show up wearing the pin–instead, a Vietnam era veteran presented it to him on the ropeline as Obama made his way to the podium at the start of the event.

"I was just handed this," Obama said. "It's a flag pin. I think I'll go ahead and put that on."

He then did just that.

34. Yes, because the written speech he gave today was on the troops and "patriotism"
And the broadcast on msnbc included the first quoted remarks below:

Obama broke from his usual practice by wearing the flag pin and reading his speech instead of talking without notes. He told several thousand people at the Charleston Civic Center that patriotism means more than saluting flags and holding parades. He criticized Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain for opposing a Democratic bill to expand education benefits for veterans.

"At a time when we're facing the largest homecoming since the Second World War," Obama said of veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, "the true test of our patriotism is whether we will serve our returning heroes as well as they've served us."

Pointing to the Bush administration, he said, "we know that over the last eight years we've already fallen short of meeting this test." He cited once shabby conditions at such facilities as Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and long waits and bureaucratic obstacles facing many who seek care from the Veterans Administration.

"When our troops go into battle, they serve no faction," Obama said. "They serve no party. They represent no race or region. They are simply Americans."
