Norah O'Donnell has developed a CACKLE!
She was just on with Senator McCaskill and when the good senator would give her a political answer to one of Norah's trademark moran questions, she CACKLED!

Then MSNBC cut directly to McSame discussing the importance of climate change....

19. She's loved McCain since 2000...
...she covered his campaign on the bus and was smitten. She and Tucker were reminiscing about it a couple of weeks ago and when asked if a Kerry and McCain would be unbeatable in 2004 she made a point of emphasizing McCain's name first as in a "McCain/Kerry ticket".

10. Ugh. So what?
It's hard to be a female journalist. Wicked hard. Double standards, ridiculous scrutiny, etc.

You want to criticize her? Fine. I think you have plenty to work with. Her questions are often inane, and I feel, slanted. So can you bust on her for her lack of journalistic merit not a cackle or chortle or giggle or whatever.

(Sorry. I'm a little sensitive. My partner is a local TV reporter and the SHIT she puts up with is unreal - from her coworkers, bosses AND viewers.)

The fact that an OP like this goes without a vehement castigation by people on DU is abominable.

BTW: I'm sorry to read about your partner. I used to do ratings research for a local TV station, and all I have to say is, "It sure must be nice to have a penis and to be in power."

Why else are you labeling her laugh as a "cackle," if anything, but to paint her as a witch?

A terrible laugh? Okay. But that's not what you said. Saying "cackle" is implying that her laugh somehow is ingenuine and that there's something witchlike about her. Why is that, PCIntern? Why witchlike?

Are you enjoying starting arguments and raising people's blood pressures around here? Do you think you're original, trying that nonsense? What are you so defensive about? Why don't we see people like you rush to the aid of male reporters where DUers state that they saw them 'storming-mad' and 'angry'? That's not considered 'sexist'? No?

This is the most ridiculous thing you've posted except for everything else you have ever posted.

26. No, men typically are not said to "cackle."
Because it's a word associated with female chickens - hens - after they lay eggs.

It's also described as a "high pitched, shrill laugh" that men aren't expected to make.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cackle

And it's associated with witches - another female archetype.

49. Oh really?
My sexism is showing. To what precisely are you referring? Are you referring to my use of the word 'cackle'? do you associate that with the anti-Hillary diatribes on this site? Have you ever read an anti-Hillary diatribe authored by me? You haven't? That's because you can't find one.

But you can make up stuff and attempt to anger a longtime poster here at DU for inconsequential, false, and frankly, less-than-sound reasons. I've read your posts...you and I are congruent on so many issues. How could you assume from my use of a word that I'm sexist when that word is neither masculine nor feminine. It was the other angry folk who did that.

I'm very disappointed in you.

57. That, and your anguished "defense" of your remarks.
It's just a shitty thing to do, to go after women like that, with that kind of gender-pejorative language, and then play dumb about it--there's more than one kind of "code" language, you know.

I'd wager if someone used "shuck and jive" to suggest that Obama was avoiding an issue, the thread would be locked in a heartbeat, after a series of outraged "Hmmmmphs!" and calls for banning the OP. But....but....those aren't RACE-SPECIFIC words, ARE they? Why, ANYONE can "shuck and jive" can't they? Yeah, sure. Like anyone can cackle.

The "cackle" word IS sexist. It's been dragged out by the GOP for eons to denigrate Clinton. It's a shame to see it here on DU.

I'm disappointed in you, too.

and you're using it right now, you're hateful and resentful of some folks and it's coming right through your text. Your motives are transparent and your use of obscenities is not effective nor is it convincing. Good luck to you in trying to change the aspects of the world which don't require changing. If you ever wonder why our Liberal Cause is probably doomed to failure, look in the mirror.

"Cackle away" for all I care. I call it like I see it, and you came through loud and clear.

FWIW, real "liberals" don't feel a need to denigrate women with sexist language--you might want to check your own mirror before you cast aspersions on others. Suggesting that my objection to your sexist language will somehow doom the liberal cause to failure is a pretty pathetic stretch on your part, as well.

This is certainly not your finest hour.

tells me that a lot of them are about as progressive as Bob Barr.

It's disgusting. And no organization could fix that. What would fix it is equal representation in the House, Senate and Judiciary. Then maybe we'd see some of this bullshit cease.

It sickens me seeing this shill of a reporter get a pass cause she's thought of as "hot".

Last week a Hillary supporter was going up and down a thread criticizing ANYONE who dared to say Michelle looked nice in her dress.

Someone then said how much more grace and feminine wonderfulness Jackie-O had, and (surprise surprise!) that went without comment.
