1. I have an idea! How about George Bush!
No, not the dweeb in the WH now. His dad - Poppy - GHWB. He's well liked in the GOP, respected around the world (sort of), and most of all - he has expeirince!

(do I need the :sarcasm: tag?)

he said, half-jokingly.

3. You forgot the worst fact of all about Hagel
As the CEO of ES&S machines, he helped unleash electro-fraud "voting" upon this country, which made his own election to the Senate possible, and which played a big part in the stolen presidential elections of 2000 and 2004.

Good grief, as if the Democratic party hasn't shifted enough toward the center already.

McCain-Clinton '08? Obama-Hagel? That's the Ticket

By Lanny J. Davis
Sunday, January 14, 2007; Page B03

Imagine this scenario: The country is so deeply divided that the media have color-coded the map of the United States to indicate the partisan chasm -- one color covers the South and most of the border states, the other drenches the North.

As the presidential election year nears, one candidate, a shoo-in for his party's nomination, has an obvious choice for running mate. Yet he also senses the uniqueness of the moment. So he makes a risky decision: He asks a leader of the opposition to run for vice president alongside him, forming the first bipartisan presidential ticket in U.S. history.

8. You know his final pick likely won't be a dyed in the wool lib, right?
Obama's whole message is about unity and coming together. It's likely that he will pick a DLC'er or RINO for the VP position. If not that, you can bet that republicans and moderate dems alike will have positions in his administration. This is the kind of circle that President Lincoln put together as well, appointing several democrats to his cabinet iirc. Just because * had a hyperpartisan administration doesn't mean we should or will too.

10. He worked hard with Biden and others to weaken the IWR.
He has been working hard on the new GI Bill of Rights. If you read his latest book, you'll find he's not a boogeyman. Sometimes he was trying to hang onto his seat and not have the RNC take him out.

26. That's probably why he doesn't make us gag.
Does Hagel really want to part ways with the dark side? That would be something, I guess. It a hope for some redemption anyhow.

17. Hear, hear!
I mean, I'm sorry, but this is our year, and as much as I admire Hagel on a tiny teensy handful of issues, he isn't worthy of being a heartbeat away from the Presidency. And it would make us look desperate, which we aren't.

I'll bet the Obama camp got a big kick out of this latest media fantasy today. :-)
