3. Is that sarcasm or what? The Labor
Unions were born in the Appalachian coal fields and steel mills! The uneducated working class in this area were the people who fought and died for the labor movement and created the middle class in America.

5. I think OP is saying politicians have let them down.
DESPITE their vigilant fight for their rights. I could be wrong, but that's what I got out of the linked article.

6. That's the argument the Republicans always
have locally. Take WV it is pretty much 49th or 50th in the USA for everything good and 1 or 2 for anything bad, yet they continue to vote for Democrats. Same goes for the Appalachian areas of Ohio and PA. SE Ohio where I live votes 2 or 3 to 1 for Democrats year after year and this is the poorest area of the state. In my opinion big business has taken upon themselves to keep us down and make an example of us because of our labor history. The one that really burns me is when a Republican says Clinton passed NAFTA. Me knowing it was Bush 1 that tried time and time again to pass NAFTA and failed because no Democrats would vote for it. But the Democrats now get blamed for it, even though every living President D or R supported it and the vast majority of the votes came from Republicans.
