WOW!
look at all the bigots on DU trying to defend the WV bigots,
because blacks are voting for Obama.

even though black democrats have supported white candidates in every single election they have participated in...
they are condemed by these so-called democrats* that are defending the OPEN, SHAMELESS BIGOTRY IN WV.

she deserves the supporters she has, they match so very well.

2. Pretty broad brush you've got there.
WV is not voting in this primary. West Virginia voters are voting in this primary. Individual voters. Some of whom will vote for Obama, and some of whom will vote for Clinton.

30. So are Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Spike Lee, Paul Mooney and Jesse Jackson
but you're REALLY not supposed to say THAT.

(OK, maybe Jesse's just anti-semitic, but since bigotry against minorities seems to rankle people more than bigotry against those of the plurality, a "Hymietown" comment should rank as worse than a slur against "mere" whites, shouldn't it?)

Prejudice is prejudice, and those who identify themselves as the downtrodden and then grant themselves the right to characterize other groups by gender, preference, age or race in a disparaging way are bigots. It's somewhat understandable, but they're bigots nonetheless.

Yes, your point is made that many of the votes cast for Hillary in WV today will beyond a doubt be tainted by racism, but race IS a factor, and there's some serious causality to this. If Obama hadn't been affiliated so closely with the frothing bigot Wright for so long, I'll bet he would get a higher vote total.

Like most other human traits, bigotry comes in degrees, and I'm sure many of the fine upstanding gospel crowds in South Carolina don't think of themselves as prejudiced for disliking homosexuals. I'll bet that the celebration of their culture garnered a whole lot of votes that otherwise would have gone to Clinton, but racial pride isn't even REMOTELY linked with bigotry in any conceivable way, now is it? That gay preacher Obama put on the bill with McClurkin being white wasn't a coded bit of racism in any way either, was it? The fact that two other prominent gay black preachers were turned down in order to have a white gay preacher up there was just happenstance too, I'd imagine.

Race is going to be an issue for quite some time in this country, and Obama played it to his advantage when he needed it, so it's not like his campaign is just a huddled group of innocent victims.

If you claim to be a straight-shooter as your title line suggests, then you have to accept the conversation of racism from both directions, and you have to accept the metric of its impact on a general election. Obama will have more problems with racism in the general election due to his shenanigans in South Carolina and his relationship with Wright than he would have had had these not been the case. That's just human nature.

Regardless of her using the actual phrase, he and his campaign played the race card first and in a big way last fall in South Carolina. It was a nice little tactical victory, but it may be a contributing factor to a strategic defeat.

51. You call all these figures racists...
I agree to a point about Farrakhan. But none of the others have pledged not to support white presidential candidates or engage in racist assault against whites. Wright and Jackson have even had working relationships with the Clintons.

So why the broad brush and sham arguments about the race card?

1) How does posting a picture of racists/xenophobes make me an "asshole"?

2) The point was directed at the suggestion that WV voters are against him because of policy. It doesn't "conclude" that "all WV voters are assholes", it just proves that some of his opponents are assholes.

3) Why do you have to make shit up to argue against instead of dealing directly with the point at hand?

22. Wow, your delusions are strong. Those are your conclusions, not mine.

I didn't say that 'WV voters who vote for Clinton are racist assholes', I didn't draw that conclusion, and I don't believe that either. That's you with your desperate need to pretend I'm saying or doing something objectionable in order to reinforce your delusion that 'Obama supporters are assholes'. Well, I didn't, I'm not, and you're full of shit. But you'll tell yourself I said and did things I didn't just so you can go on pretending you're right. I'm afraid no one can help you with that.

IF you knew how to read the posts you respond to, you might have recognized that my posting that pic was in direct response to the suggestion that people are against Obama because of policy. Well, that pic proves that there are people who are against him because of his middle name. That's all it was.

I feel very sad for all of you delusional sorts that have to manufacture your own version of other's posts and meanings in your head just for the sake of believing what you want to... but like I said, there's not much I can do about that but hope you all come back to your senses one day.

Good luck.

26. Who's backtracking? You're seeing what's not there because of either;
Edited on Tue May-13-08 10:57 AM by Dr_eldritch
a) A serious lack of comprehension.

b) A desperate need to see something that isn't there.

c) Both.

Otherwise, instead of making up inferences, you could point to what I actually said that makes me an asshole.

You see, I never said that "WV voters are racists". The pic I posted doesn't prove that "WV voters are racists", it proves that some of them are bigoted, which was the point I was making in response to NJSecularist. - I never said anything otherwise, so I have no need to "backtrack".

You're seeing what's not there and working hard to reinforce your delusion. In therapy, I usually have people talk it out until they recognize that all the meanings they are deriving are coming from themselves. Unfortunately, those are people who realize they need help, you haven't yet advanced to that stage. Like I said, there's nothing I can do for you. You will see what you want to see whether it's there or not, and all I can do is hope that you come to your senses during election season.

Good luck to you.

Oh, and if you need to keep going over this, that's fine too.

28. Learn to read. Who was I talking about...
If you didn't notice, I'm talking about the people with the sign in the entire post. You are the one with the fantasy that I was saying something else.

Isn't it amazing how much blatant fact and reality you have to ignore in order to keep your delusion going? I mean, you have to simultaneously see and not see the sign, and then miss the fact that in the subject line I'm talking about the sign in order to tell yourself that I've called WV voters "racist". You didn't see me call 'WV voters racists', but it's what you want to believe I said... even though I plainly did not. I'll even say it again; I don't believe WV voters are necessarily 'racist', even though I'm sure that some are. The picture does show a few who are certainly bigoted though... which was the point I was making to NJSecularist who claimed that his opponents were all about 'substance and policy'. The pic clearly shows that is not entirely the case.

To me, selective cognitive processing like yours has always been just fascinating.

But like I said; I probably can't help you, but if you want to keep going over it, you might just work it out.

Fascinating.

Please show us where I said that "WV voters are assholes". It's just not there... at all.

Yet you call me an asshole for posting a picture of bigots?

This is really great stuff.

I can keep this up all day. I'll keep asking you to provide evidence of somthing that isn't there until you give up or realize you believe something that isn't there.

Keep in mind, the more you continue trying to reinforce your delusion, the more obvious to others your problem becomes... and I'm not above using this exchange as an example to prove that some people have really just lost it when I need to. I appreciate your handing me a case in point about some Clinton people being delusional, but I really hope you pull through this and regain your sanity.

Good luck.

They represent some portion of WV voters, but certainly not all of them. That was the point; "There are voters who don't care about substance".
