Attention to the "Hillary women" on CNN this morning?
I was in the dentist office for 2.5 hours this morning.
x(
I had them put the television on CNN to distract me from the unbearable nightmare of have this man jackhammer away in my mouth. Anyway while I was watching CNN on the television they had a segment about female Hillary voters. They had 6 Hillary voters rangeing in ages from 20's to their 60's. The interviewer asked if Barack Obama was our nominee if they would vote him and only two of the women raised their hands (both of them were the younger women). When they asked the women why they wouldn't vote for Obama they gave answers that just inflamed me. One said she would probably vote for McCain (she seemed to be in her 60's) and another stated she would either not vote or vote for McCain (she seemed to be in her 40's). Their justification was that "it was time for a woman president" and if not her, "why not". Basically these two meatheads are going to destroy our Republic if they don't get their way by allowing McCain to give us a third Bush term. Ladies you thought it was bad before women had the right to vote yoyu outta see what a neo-con dominated supreme court will do.
- McCain will nominate candidates for the courts that will greenlight warrantless stipsearches for women.
- McCain will hamper voter rights.
- McCain will blow more of our treasury and American lives in the deserts of Iraq and eventually Iran.

I know I can't force you to do anything you don't want to do, but please take your nations welfare into account before you throw us into the toilet.

15. Obama's supporters pushed me away from him. After all the hate-filled, arrogant bullshit
I have had the displeasure to see here and elsewhere, I want nothing to do with that kind of supposed hope and change. It is not sour grapes - nothing to do with it. It is seeing the ambassadors of the *movement* and their *hope and change* in action. The arrogance and name-calling and insults - and they have no idea what they have done. I do not want any part of it. You can keep my seat on that ride. I will wait for the next train.

We cannot blame a candidate for everything that one of their supporters has said or done.

28. If we Obama backers would hold our noses and vote for HRC were she the candidate, and yes we can, ..
then Hillary backers can likewise hold their noses and vote for Obama.

To vote for McCain is not only Rethuglican, it's downright idiocy.

If you can't vote for Obama, at least have the decency to not vote at all for president.

Hillary supporters prefer a man who wants to bomb Iran, Hillary threatens to Obliterate Iran.

They shared the same vote for Iraq war.

btw, Obama has had very harsh words for Iran, hell, he threatened to put troops in Pakistan against that country's wishes - onto the *right battlefields* I believe was his terminology. and you can ask Obama about his shifting position on the vote he never had to make, and about war-monger Kerry's vote on the IWR. You can probably find them side by side on some stage somewhere.

Why do you care how people on the internet act? They won't be the ones appointing Supreme Court justices.

I'm going to vote in the GE for the candidate who won't keep us in Iraq for 100 years or appoint anti-choice judges. How a candidate's supporters behave is somewhat less important to me than his or her positions on the issues.

106. I hope you are joking. If you would allow some anonymous posters
on a message board or any other "supporter" of a candidate make you vote against your own self-interest, you have lost your mind.

As a woman, I can't imagine that you would vote McCain or sit-it-out. Do you know what will happen to this country if the SCOTUS moves to the right anymore? As a woman, you should realize what impact that has on women as well as many other segments of our society.

When this primary started, I had already chosen Obama as my candidate. I agreed with him on most issues (other than Kucinich - who I consider unelectable - sorry) and I also agreed with his Lincoln philosophy of defeating your enemy which I have used most of my life and 9 out of 10 times succeed. I also really liked Hillary Clinton, but couldn't support her because she would not apologize for her IWR vote which affected my family personally. Unfortunately, I have lost all respect for Hillary & Bill Clinton now because of the way they have run their campaign in this primary. I also have seen some of the most vile posts from her supporters on this board as well which shows that what you see on this board is all about perspective. Having said that, if Hillary Clinton is the nominee (although it is nearly impossible at this stage), I will absolutely vote for her because to do anything else would be idiotic.

80. Abortion is a one issue scare tactic. We didnt like when Repugs use it.
So why are the DEMS now trying to use it against other DEMS. If McCain wins he will have a Democratic congress that will not change RvW nor will they allow Scalias to be confirmed for the SC. McCain will have to moderate his stand if he wants to get anything done at all.

We didn't like it when Republicans used abortion as a way to manipulate it's voters into choosing candidates so why are we doing the same thing now?

BTW, I'm pro-choice and not supporting McCain.

Edited on Wed May-14-08 10:52 AM by seabeyond
have you noticed this with the right.

for a cop to strip search a child it is totally ok. for a cop to stop a bunch of old fart men from raping our children (flds) they are up in arms about cop interference

really saying something about the right wing pig male

36. Turning their backs on the younger generations of women
Just about insuring the loss of the right to choose if they voted McCain or not at all.

I watched this report and btw I'm 61. It was appalling. But in the end I called "bullshit". Those women are desperate for Clinton to win the nom and are talking out of their asses at this point.

The two young women in the back row who said they'd vote for Obama in the general? I was thinking they ought to roll up some newspapers and start whacking heads left and right.

43. Destroy all the things they worked hard to achieve
It doesn't make any sense. That's why I think they'll vote for our nominee whoever it is.

Making it about gender at this point with the SCOTUS so close to the tipping edge makes this election as serious as it gets for women's rights. So there's a disconnect in their thinking as they've stated it. They'll vote Dem.

42. Do you have any daughters?
Or any sons for that matter? McCain would realistically send your sons to war and stack the supreme court to take away the right to choose.

I am sure anything I have to say is pointless though; seems you've already decided this is the best way to go.

The only way that I could bring myself to vote for Obama is if Hillary was also on the ticket. Otherwise, I'll either abstain or write-in her name. I will, though, vote for the other Dems. on the ballot.

51. One thing leads to another - you know that
If you sit on your hands and not vote for the Dem or if you vote for McCain, you'll be insuring the loss of choice.

Blood will be on your hands when women die from unsafe, illegal abortions as they did before abortion rights were set in place. There's no whitewashing it over.

I'm not letting you off the hook. Live with it.

40. No doubt women who seldom vote for the Democratic nominee will vote for McCain
Of Hillary's voters, about one fourth of them will vote for McCain - some of whom are really Republicans, and some of whom are nominally Democrats who vote Republican in the fall.

There are going to be some old women who will vote for McCain, but it's mainly because they're old and white, and fall into that group of old white racists who get their granny panties in a bunch thinking about a black man as president. They will be offset by indies and Republicans who vote for Obama.

I have no doubt that there are women who will shoot themselves in the foot by voting for McCain, because when grandma gets her Mad On, rational thinking does not prevail.

49. I do agree that they were probably never Dems to begin with
It makes me wonder why they bother supporting Clinton, then. If not Hillary, because she's a woman, then important women's issues can be trashed and it's fine with them.

Like I said above, there's a disconnect. No wonder we had lots of fights in the women's movement back in the day. Petulance and ego remain a constant to our detriment.

55. It's weird, because Hillary's candidacy sends the wrong message:
And that message is "Who you married is who you are!"

It's the opposite of a feminist message, which would applaud the many women who have climbed up through the ranks in politics the past 30 years, on their own. When your biggest selling point is who you're married to, that's evidence that you're not getting there on your own steam.

Her candidacy is an insult to the Barbara Boxers, the Nancy Pelosis, and all the others who have labored to ascend the ranks of politicians through service.

59. Did you see the E.J. Dionne article posted around here this morning?
He talked about her candidacy taking a leap when Bill was put more into the background and she came forward as a champion of the working class. It was after the disaster of South Carolina where Bill made a mess.

I think she was emerged from his shadow too late.

Perhaps that was all adjusting message as the campaign spiraled downward after Super Tuesday. I'm a cynic. But his article touches the issue you raise. In fact, your thoughts seem to be be a good response to his article. In the final analysis, her path to office was paved by his successes. She'll never know her own strengths because of their historic pact.

78. Hillary and Bill have a lot of work to do to repair the damage they have done to our party
Edited on Wed May-14-08 10:29 AM by flpoljunkie
They have worked very hard to undermine Obama--unlike the other Democratic candidates no longer in the race--notably John Edwards. Perhaps he can be used effectively to woo the white, working class voters that the Clintons have so effectively poisoned in states like West Virginia--altho Bill's work in North Carolina in the rural counties fell flat when the votes were counted there.

There may not be much hope, though, for states like West Virginia which Bush carried in 2000 by 6 points and in 2004 by 13 points--52%-46%.

It is sad, indeed to see the Clintons put their own ambitions above the good of the party.

if she can't have it, why let him, since he "didn't wait his turn." I think he can make it up in new votes. I hope. If not, they deserve everything they get from John McCain. And they will have helped her become a pariah to her own party. It won't be forgotten.

Instead of focusing on all the people silly enough to walk out, let's focus on all the people we lost who are smart enough to come back to the Democratic Party now.

I'd rather have the Greens and Independents back than the entire DLC wing.

It'll be easier to unite around principles, like no unjust wars, that way.

"Ladies you thought it was bad before women had the right to vote yoyu outta see what a neo-con domina"

I worried about that and it's why I didn't vote for Obama. I felt it was too important to elect someone who could accomplish the changes Obama talks about...as if Hillary and her supporters don't want change too and she knows how to do it...not just talk about it...which is all he's done so far. He has no idea how's it going to get done...but it makes a good campaign slogan which gullible people eat up.
