Voted today in West Virginia for Senator Clinton!
Monongalia County, checking in. :hi: :dem:

I'm still amazed at the lines! I've been voting at the same polling place for years, but I have never had to stand in line for a primary vote until today. Holy moly. I got to talk to a few of the others who were waiting in line with me, and I was pleasantly surprised that there wasn't any arguing or debate. I spoke to two Obama supporters (a man and his wife who'd also brought their little boy) and four Clinton supporters (a middle-aged couple, one single bearded male, and a young lady of eighteen who said this was her very first primary vote. Everyone gave her a round of applause--it was very touching.) Everyone was excited.

My polling place was my son's elementary school, and there looked to be about 40-50 people when I was there; there will likely be a lot more after 5:00 pm, when people start getting off work. We had touchscreen machines with paper printouts, and everything went smoothly.

:woohoo:

2. Do you have open primaries?
If so I wonder how many people in line were the Limbaugh dipshitheads going to vote for Hillary ;)

14. Nope, just Dems and Independents. Huckabee won the (R) primary in February.

19. Actually, TK... the Repugs did vote yesterday as well...
Only 2/3 of their delegates were set at the convention last February, though that in and of itself made a lot of Repug voters vocally angry (as was demonstrated by the LTTE section in the paper for a couple of weeks).

18. We have 'semi-open' primaries here in WV
Dems and Repugs vote specifically in their own...
Independents can choose between a non-partisan ballot (usually just school board slots and ballot initiatives), or they can request either a Dem or Repug ballot.

3. I was thinking about making a joke about WV stereotypes, but it's just too tense in here right now.
It's really unfortunate that we can't even poke fun at the craziness in DU.

Congratulations.

6. I love it when the other voters clap for the 1st timers
I've seen that happen at my polling place a couple of times. It's nice.
