28. You really are from the Ozarks. What do those stats mean in terms of your point?
Edited on Tue May-13-08 08:26 PM by kwenu
There needs to be a match between the two. Those of us who are familiar with that certain knowledge called American history knows better if the point is that states that have elected black leaders can't be racist. The south had large numbers of black elected officials after slavery. The period was called Reconstruction. And then what happened?

I was talking in general.

Want to make ad hominem attacks on people...than you are attacking the nominee.

Amazing, no AA ever elected to office in Obama's "swing" states.

18. Vermont has an AA population of .8%, WVA 3.2%
Edited on Tue May-13-08 07:23 PM by NewHampshireDem
That means there are about 5,000 black people in Vermont, as opposed to about 60,000 black people in WVA (based on 3.3% of total population). My guess is that it's more about the size of the pool than the nature of the electorate, if one wanted to have that argument.

On edit: I over-stated the percentage of African-Americans in VT by .1%; it is actually .7%, so the total population is actually just under 4400.

FWIW: Great site for demographic data--

24. I hate to point out the obvious
This is the tenth Clinton operative post about reverse racism today. A topic which has made the career of most right wing radio heads.

What strange bedfellows politics makes?

27. I'm appalled by what some can get away with....
I thought Hillary's comments about 'working class whites' was very offensive on many levels, not just for blacks but for people of all colors. I live in VA and went to school in WV and I can assure you there are PLENTY of racists in BOTH states. Whether they are Hillary supporters or not is open to debate. I would guess most vote the repugnatcan ticket. I have even on occasion been completely shocked to learn that someone I thought would never be a racist turns out to be one in the end. As a child, my parents taught me to respect all creation. I'm one of the lucky ones. I have sympathy for the rest. Some day I hope the Democratic Party can truly be the party for ALL THE PEOPLE regardless of race, gender, religion, economic advantage, sexual orientation or whatever the color of your plaid. It certainly isn't there yet.
