West Virginia Voter: "I'm Going To Vote For The Colored Guy...I Don't Think A Woman Can Be POTUS."
Sasha Issenberg, in Montgomery, WV:

"I'm going to vote for the colored guy," said Henry Ford -- "no, not that Henry Ford," the 87-year old retired carpenter in the Napa Auto Parts hat pointed out. "I don't dislike her, but I don't think a woman can be president of the United States. I don't think she can handle the job."

4. JFK also said that women did not have what it takes to be president.
John Kenneth Galbraith told him that was not true.

JFK: Okay, name ONE woman who has what it takes to be president.

JKG: Eleanor Roosevelt.

JFK: Okay, now name me another.

10. No Disrespect, But Considering His Exploits
It's quite probable "what it takes," as far as he was concerned, would have been wobbly parts.

5. Ok I know he grew in a whole different country
and at least he has been able to get over separate but equal... but not over his misogyny

Just an observation on where we stand as a nation... and it is not a happy place, whether this is about colored or women

Why this is so damn historic

I can't fault my 82-year-old grandmother when she talks about "that colored boy" (not talking about Obama, but I've heard her use the term talking about someone else).

11. I can't help but laugh
at this, it involves so many kinds of bigotry. And you just know this guy would deny being a bigot to the skies, and believe it too.

One thing I never hear mentioned is how many women would never vote for a woman for president. My mother for one, and I know lots of other older women who feel that way.
