Mark. My. Words.

For all of you that are watching 'the polls' that tell you, here in May, who's 'more likely' to win the General Election against McCain in November, I'm going to lay a prediction down for you all.

Now, I'm seldom wrong about most things (IMHO), although I'm occasionally misconstrued for trying to say something in too few or too many words. So I'm going to go out on a limb and lay this out double-plus-good clear;

"Within a MONTH of the Democratic candidate for President being confirmed, McCain will trail the Democrat by no less than 5 points, and it will be nothing but downhill for McCain from there."*

I say this with the understanding that the corporate media will do their level best to elevate McCain above his own ineptitude and unpopular positions, and knowing that there will be many different polls. I'll even be willing to bet the average of those polls will bear this out.

I just believe that when the ambiguity of the primary is washed away, and one, competent and substantial candidate is presented to the American people, they will acknowledge not only their viability, but the drastically optimistic message they will bring in contrast to McCain.

As most of you know, I believe that Obama will bring a straight ticket bloodbath to Republicans this November. I have little doubt that Clinton would cream him as well. Either Way, McCain and the Republicans are toast.

* Barring a catastrophe, of course.

3. Honestly, I was tempted to say something closer to 9.... but the point
was that all these people that are saying that "Obama/Clinton CAN'T beat McCain" don't know what they're talking about.

I'd actually go so far as to say that Obama will be ahead by as much as 10 points within the first month of being confirmed.

The 3 recent wins plus the throttling they took in the 2006 election (worst loss ever) means that the Repubs are out of gas. They have nothing.

In all seriousness though, I don't think Grandpaw is up for the race. The more senior moments (wait until one happens in a debate) and McCain is done.

16. Frank Rich column last Sunday
Edited on Wed May-14-08 09:24 AM by underpants
he mentions how everyone is taking for granted how all this suits McCain when actually that clustercluster has not been exposed to the light yet and from what we have seen (Shiite/Sunni gas tax) there are a car full of guys in colorful suits and big shoes.

You and I know about it but when it becomes a weekly thing people are going to see that he isn't an option. The pukes are going to have a repeat of the 70's -retreat into think tanks and come up with some more empty rhetoric talking points.

6. I so agree--and the gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands over "Obama will lose the GE"
is nothing but wishful thinking on the part of Clinton "supporters" who are deeply disappointed that their candidate McSame will not be running against Hillary -- who, though I dislike her intensely, I suppose would also beat him, but not as decisively as Obama will. With her, far too many repukes would crawl on hands and knees over broken glass and razor wire for the chance to vote AGAINST her. Obama does not inspire this level of animosity and motivation to vote against.

My Republican Faux-News watching mother, who has never voted for a Democrat in her life, and would sooner immolate herself than vote for Clinton, said she is planning to vote for Obama.

Seriously... if Obama can pull them around, it's going to be a landslide.

9. When Obama gets to bring his own particular...
shine to the GE, he will win over tons of voters. But, not until he can break away from her and the negative glare she brings to everyone around her.

I have a term I use for people like her, "oxygen suckers". They suck all the air out of the room and everyone is left too exhausted to think about anything else.

11. the economy will kill all republiKlans
they will try to blame it all on the Dems (they wouldn't let us drill in ANWR). But most people will add up $4gas, high food prices, a health care system that they can't use and republicans in charge of the WH for 8 years and the congress for 14 years and say - any change will have to be better.
And Mac isn't smart enough to address economy questions.

This will be an historic election, and I believe that folks will want to have a say.....especially Democrats.

52. My greatest concern is some sort of catastrophe, also
I keep thinking that:
if we are allowed to have elections, and
if we make it to Inauguration Day, and
if a Democrat is sworn in,
then we can be optimistic about the future.

After that, we'll still have very serious problems to address, but I'll feel a whole lot better knowing the Democrats are in charge.

42. I refuse to believe that anything more than a tiny fraction of Clinton or Obama
supporters are so petty and vindictive that they will not vote for either of them in November. Granted, some of the Clinton people have really gone off the deep end, but they're a small group of really loud nutcases.

I just hope that they'll come back to their senses before they start spouting off against the Dem nominee and get banned. Most of them have been DUers since before dirt was in beta testing*, and it would be a shame to see them kicked.

McCain will stroke, have a recurring bout with cancer, or heart attack...it will be very interesting to see who his VP is...but....doesn't martial law cancel the constitution?...and wouldn't that eliminate the need for a change?....see, I don't think they want McCain in there, I don't think they ever did...I think he was picked to lose, or he was picked to run, yet never be president..so they could finally get rid of him once and for all(in some way)...in any case...the next few months will be quite interesting, methinks...wb
