Clinton: "Make a contribution today to help me win"

http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/washington/washington/entries/2008/05/14/hillary_why_im.html

Here’s the e-mail Hillary Clinton sent to supporters today. It’s called “Why I’m in.”

...

“There are some people out there who want to declare this race over now, before all the ballots have been counted or even cast. There are some who say they don’t know why I’m in this race. So let me tell you why I’m still running.”

“I’m in this race for everyone who needs a champion. For the hardworking families who are losing sleep over gas prices and grocery costs and mortgage payments and medical bills — but who never lose that American can-do spirit and optimism.”

...

“We are in the homestretch. After sixteen months, there are only three weeks left to compete in the final contests. With your help I’m going to keep fighting until every last American has a chance to be heard, and as we learned last night in West Virginia, I know we can win.”

“Contribute now to keep our campaign going strong.”

...

“Make a contribution today to help me win.”

“I want to thank you again for the incredible generosity of spirit you have shown over the course of this campaign. Together, you and I are going to make history.”

“Thank you,

Hillary Rodham Clinton”

13. She'll help. She really doesn't have a choice if she cares
about her political future, the Clinton legacy or the future of this country. I believe she cares about all three.

18. legacy
The Clintons' legacy is intact, despite what Team Obama would make us believe. Stockholm Syndrome aside, you all might consider offering the Clintons carrots instead of sticks.

20. No, the Clinton legacy has suffered, and it will suffer more if Hillary
and Bill don't enthusiasticall support Obama. Check Bill's falling approval rating among dems in polls. And Hillary isn't some child who should be cajoled. She needs to do what's right because it's the right thing to do. As for your silly little quip about Stockholm Syndrome, I simply put that down to hilly sour grapes. You might consider laying off the poisonous crap.

21. poisonous crap
The 'poisonous crap,' as you so elegantly put it is the idea that anyone who runs against the great one will be labeled as have Hill and Bill. It works in the Primaries, but alienates too many people we'll need in the GE. Maybe we should all get a good history book and find out who's really been persecuting us all this time. Don't try to bring down dem icons (while praising Reagan, of all people) for Chrissakes.

25. ridiculous. Hillary has every right to keep running- until Obama gets
to 2025. After that, she needs to drop out and support him. The same would be true if they're situations were reversed. And please, learn the difference between analysis and praise. You're right, though, you do need a good history book or 2. And it's amusing that you call Hill and Bill dem icons while labeling Obama sarcastically as the "great one.". I don't hate the Clintons, but I was never a big fan. Now they're screwing themselves. Perhaps they should think long and hard about continuing with their tactics.

7. I'm sorry, she is flat out lying to her supporters.
She knows she can't win and she is being disingenuous in an attempt to pay off her debts. This is very *like and I do not want a president who lies. She should know better.

14. Quite Sad -- her low-info supporters dont realize its a lie to pay back her debt before she quits
I guess her supporters wont listen so i guess Hillary will continue to string them along before she moves on debt free and her supporters are lighter in the wallet for nothing accomplished. very sad to see robbery in motion.

16. I love how she talks about "all her activists" (not here, but elsewhere)
Edited on Wed May-14-08 11:55 AM by jsmirman
This woman has NEXT TO NO VOLUNTEERS!

Seriously, I've campaigned in two recent states pretty hard and you know how many Hillarity volunteers I've seen out and about? TWO in each state. And you know what they were doing? Sitting on their asses holding a sign up.

I've started to say, if you want to find a Hillary volunteer, just look for the person sitting on his or her rear, who couldn't be arsed to actually, you know, like meet people if every potential vote came with a doughnut strapped to their foreheads.

It must be said that these are the least active "activists" I have ever seen.

If her campaign has such raison d'etre besides her own vile ego and willingness to turn this thing into class warfare on behalf of a class she privately doesn't care for, where the heck are the volunteers?

We know she had to rely on street cash just to get people to do *anything* in a number of states. And like I said, when I campaign, her "activists" are pretty much invisible.

It's just another chapter in the "who is she kidding" book of Hillarities.

35. Same here, I rarely see a Clinton T - Shirt
at the Farmer's Market.

Don't see Clinton lawn signs and I am all over Los Angeles ~ not in the Valley however.

Obama signs are everywhere but they are visable.

I can't recall seeing a Clinton volunteer anywhere.

34. It's not very likely
but possible.

But what's wrong with her asking for money? Did people bitch when Kucinich asked for money? Do you believe in your heart of hearts that he ever had a chance of winning the nomination?

23. Win what?
What would she like to win? She can't get the nomination...That's been over for awhile now. She can't win the presidency because she can't get the Democratic nomination, so what is it that she wants to win? Unless...Of course she wants to go independant, then maybe. I mean really...It's over girl.

When does her ego stop holding the rest of the party hostage? America simply does not need her--and said so.
