Why I've called her "HRC" instead of "Hillary"...if anybody wondered.
Actually, it was meant as a sincere gesture of respect.

I was just never comfortable calling her "Hillary", since you almost never hear a male presidential candidate referred to solely by his first name.

While I don't support her for the nomination, I've chosen to use the initials in order to avoid what I felt was an uncomfortably familiar and, to my mind, disrespectful way of addressing the Junior Senator from New York.

Just thought I'd explain that.

No other agenda intended for this particular thread.

2. Well all her signs and indicators are that she wants to be "Hillary" our girl friend.
:eyes:

I have always used HRC. At first, it was a sign of respect ... however, I hold no more respect for either Clinton now.

She wanted the "Hillary" because, to HRC she's ALL WOMEN.

IMO, HRC's recent behavior shames our gender. :nuke:

4. I call both candidates by their last names
Sometimes prefaced with "Sen. / Senator"

You don't call Obama, BHO, right?

We don't get to call them by their initials until they win, just ask FDR and JFK. :)

5. It's on all her signage. It's all over her site. How is that disrespectful?
(BTW, Rudy was called by his first name more often than his last name, and also put his first name on all his signs and stickers.)

I go back and forth between HRC and Hillary
actually HRC is a compliment (and I'm an Obama supporter) because if you think of it:

FDR=Franklin Roosevelt
HST=Harry Truman
JFK=John Kennedy
LBJ=Lyndon Johnson

It used to be that Dem presidents were known by their initials.

11. I wonder why it never continued. RMN; GRF; JEC; RWR; GHWB;
WJC; RBS*; and soon BHO. (I actually had to look up President Carter's middle name. Turns out that it is Earl, James Earl Carter. The very reason I had to look it up is because the media had stopped widespread use of this simple system of using initials after LBJ.)

6. Oh...you have an agenda
It is to get O elected. Were you speaking of the inexperienced Jr. senator from Illinois as a reference to first names. What a bunch of drivel you post.

8. Well, you can't really call her "Clinton"
because it would cause confusion whether you were talking about her or Bill. So, I don't see Hillary as disrespectful.

Also -- her campaign signs, at least the ones I see, just say "Hillary" -- so she must be OK with it.

And HRC is the acronym for the Human Rights Campaign -- so when I see "HRC says . . ." I think it's a statement from them.

10. If she were to be the first Clinton to be president (at least in modern times)
then most people would refer to her as Clinton. Since she was the second, her first name made more sense.
