I'm sure Edwards will figure prominently in the Obama admin.

138. Ditto that for me
This has turned out to be such a fabulous night.
We even danced to the live feed on our puter,
and then had to crack open a frosty Red Stripe to celebrate. :toast:

I actually cried tears of joy, and I wanted to march to Washington right then.
I want Dubya and his scandalmongers thrown OUT, like yesterday.

Please, let Obama and Edwards remain as life long examples of the higher road that
we should all seek to take in our politics. We will accomplish so much more that way.
This nation is finally getting it, I HOPE 08!

The two of them standing there together says so much to me, and they speak for me.
They want to solve problems by getting the support to do so, directly from all of us.
The People's mandate, one that serves the tax payers needs, not the corporate war machine.

:patriot: Thanks for your leadership John! Go USA 08!

159. Ditto.
I was pissed when he got out. I really wanted him to push on through a few more states because I thought he could have caught fire. In hindsight, I think he saw what the Obama phenomenon was about and bowed out before he did - or took - any damage.

I'm happy to see him endorse my #2. It will do Barack a lot of good.

52. I don't have a problem with him waiting.
I wouldn't have preferred it were earlier, but I think he and the other heavyweights (like Gore) wanted to let it play out, rather than look like they were trying to strong-arm it away from Hillary. Letting her lose it on her own will make it easier to regain her supporters for the GE, than if it looked like big players were working it hard for Obama.

102. I think this is PERFECT TIMING
Obama is obviously the odds on favorite to get the nomination. However, Hillary's Spin Cycle has painted Obama as an elitist and someone not relating to the blue collar Democrats, the hard working Whites yaknow....

Edwards, with his emphasis on poverty, and the Two Americas is the perfect antidote to this. Edwards would not endorse someone out of touch with working class America.

Obama did not need Edwards to clinch the nomination. What we are seeing here is a rebound towards the GENERAL ELECTION!

I could not be happier that Edwards took this step now.

So Hillary is going to throw Edwards and his anti-poverty ideas under the bus too? Is she does....wouldn't that be a bit awkward, even for her? (I believe in working class, hard working whites....but I don't think that fellow who talks about Two Americas is any good.....yeah...right.....give me a break....

191. It's been reported
that the two have been in touch for months, so it would seem that this is possible. Obama has the money and Edwards haa the strengths that Obama needs. A real symbiotic relationship. Edwards is Obama's VP for sure. And Obama wouldn't cave as Kerry did. Hopefully '04 won't be repeated.

in the battle against Sauron? This feels like that moment.

And now the last Ents will march out from their forests too :woohoo: !!!

The prophecy of Strider-Aragorn, the outsider

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

. . .he gets it this time around (unlike 2004).

The manipulative corporate monster has to be slain, not fed. . .

and he sees how TEAM OBAMA is the REAL HOPE for this change.

NOW we can. . .REALLY do this!

And, hey John, luv ya!

175. I would love to see Edwards be our next Attorney General!!!
I was in the kitchen making dinner and started cheering when I watched the announcement from Edwards live! I was an Edwards supporter and absolutely devastated when he dropped out. I wasn't sure if I was going to go for Hillary or Obama at first. I eventually felt that Obama was the person who I wanted to support and I kept hoping that at some point Edwards would through his support behind him. I'm so happy right now... :bounce:

59. Edwards Remains My First Choice & Just Watching Him Again Was Wonderful...
I still miss him and have yet to get over what happened. If he becomes a part of an Obama Administration, should Obama win, I know he will be extremely helpful to Obama. As he delivered his speech it was once again evident how very effective he can be. After watching him and then listening to Obama I saw a stark difference between the two. And IMHO, John Edwards can reach out and touch a crowd far better than either Clinton or Obama. But things are what they are and seeing them together on stage made me think how much Edwards could help Obama with the middle class. John Edwards can "light a fire" and Obama is very lucky to have him out there with him simply because he still SHINES.

Am I thrilled, or would I like to see "this ticket" for the fall, I can't say. I freely admit that I HAVE NOT been thrilled by the 2 front runners and the reactions and vitriol thrown around here at DU for way too long. I suppose time will tell, but it was GREAT seeing John Edwards once again, and still feel America MISSED a great chance throwing Edwards overboard!!

It was nice to see how gracious and energetic he is and would be an asset to the nominee. I just wish it would have been him.

He brought tears to my eyes. I miss him.

Obama is my second choice, but I feel good about the possibilities of what we can accomplish with an electrified electorate and a thoughtful president like Obama. I plan to work my ass off for Obama.

I would also vote for Hillary if she got the nomination.

49. Pat B U cannon
Just showed his true colors on the Chris Matthews show.He said that Matthews and MSNBC painted the voters in WV as poor ignorant racist, because they reported that in the exit polls that many people voted for Hillary because of race.Which they actually did and the polls showed most WV people lacked a college education and made less than $50,000 a year.
B U cannon is losing it.

62. Thank You, John Edwards
Edited on Wed May-14-08 06:59 PM by Sander
In 2004, I voted for John Edwards in the Georgia Primary. I was very disappointed when he had to accept only the second slot on the ticket with John Kerry. However, I have been an Edwards supporter ever since. I would have voted for him in the 2008 Primary, had he not dropped out of the race only a week or two previous.

It was then that I decided to support Barack Obama - and was very happy I did. Obama represents the progressive populist voice that I so much admired in John Edwards, but even more. Obama's vision for the future and his campaign for change convinced me I had made the right choice. But when he gave his speech on race, "We the People," I realized I was now supporting what would potentially be a turning point in American history.

I am glad the John Edwards now supports this vision as well. If Barack would offer him the VP slot, I would support them both with every ounce of energy I could muster.

Edwards also praised Sen. Hillary Clinton's candidacy.

"What she has shown ... is strength and character, and what drives her is something that every single one of us can and should appreciate," Edwards said. "She is a woman who, in my judgment, is made of steel, and she's a leader in this country not because of her husband but because of what she has done."

An endorsement for Obama and for a united Democratic party. :loveya: Edwards.

Man, what a day! Seriously, I've been going through some Edwards' withdrawals since he dropped out in January.

How can anyone not like this guy!

179. "Trying to beat Hillary"
How's life in an alternate reality?

Obama beat Hillary on his own. It is just takia hell of a lot of people to finally make her see that she is, indeed, beaten.

Sour grapes are not becoming. Please stop the attacks on the Democratic nominee and join us in taking back our country.

Or you can just take your ball home and pout. Your choice.

182. Or, he could be my new boss at here at HUD!!
Cabinet-level position here at the U.S. Dept of Housing and Urban Development, since he has this poverty initiative. What better way to address poverty and housing than HUD? He also made comments about HUD in the past about how he would restructure the agency to be more accountable to citizens. I'd be happy to work with him, as would most of my colleagues here who are Obama supporters anyway.

190. NO ONE speaks to the issue of poverty better than John!
There are many areas in which Obama's oratory shines, but even at his best Edwards has him beat in this area.

Both have tremendous grace, know how to work a crowd, and have tremendous passion. If John is interested in the VP slot, he'd make a fine second-in-charge, but if he was AG, I'm all for it! Whatever position he takes, it should be in the public eye.

WOO HOO!!! :grouphug:
