Hurt? Bitter? Feeling picked on? Join the club.
To the Clinton supporters who are loudly ruminating on how harried and mistreated they feel in the wake of the primary, a few words, if I may.

I'm not fool enough to pretend like everyone has played above board arguing against the Clinton folks. I know there have been some fairly nasty shots taken.

Nor am I going to pretend, however, that the Clinton supporters on DU are somehow victims in this situation. We both know you threw considerably more punches than you took, and more below the belt to boot. Here's a hint: when your latest material comes from Fox and the RNC, you should think twice before using it.

Some of you out there are completely blameless on this count, I know. And I'm not saying that just randomly whacking on Clinton supporters is appropriate. But it's important to have a sense of perspective on why there are so many angry Obama supporters.

You want to know why nobody on DU abused Edwards supporters? Because Edwards supporters didn't abuse anyone else. A number of Clinton supporters, on the other hand, both enjoyed their frontrunner status a little too well--with a year-long theme throughout 2007 of "you'll vote for Hillary and like it"--and were willing to do or say anything to keep it, including behaving very much like freepers.

This created a huge amount of animosity to anyone flying the Clinton flag, particularly when it seemed that the rational Clinton supporters either got drowned out or never engaged in any self-policing.

You feel angry and put upon by Obama supporters. Okay--I'm not going to argue with that. But there are a bunch of us out here who feel the same way about you. So how about this: I apologize to you, you apologize to me, and let's get on with thumping Senator Strangelove, eh?

Funny how those who want to get along engage in insults and name-calling.

2. Then again, there are those who simply choose to be bitter because they like it.
And because it makes them feel superior.

3. organisms are defined by their behavior
"...and were willing to do or say anything to keep it, including behaving very much like freepers."

this place has been infested for a very long time

one thing I learned doing Veteran's advocacy online... the megapharms and arms manufacturers... pretty much Rockefeller dominated... have UNLIMITED RESOURCES and...

that includes monitoring prominent websites and communications... throwing a spaniard in the works whenever possible...

nothing buys support like American Dollars.

I think DUers are pretty naive... hence all the reliance upon the Corporate Media

6. I think a lot of people are taking personally criticisms of their candidate
I can't figure it any other way -- there simply hasn't been the kind of wholesale attacks against Clinton supporters (or Obama supporters) that the other "side" says. We have to realize that people have a right to object to the behavior of the candidate
without taking such criticisms as a personal affront against themselves and thus envision some bloated persecution complex.

9. I don't take attacks on Hillary personally
I will defend her as passionately I would defend any good and liberal Dem, but I don't take it personally.

I do take the personal insults, aimed at me for my choice of candidates, personally. Those people who engage in it are shipped off to ignore land quickly. They are pathetic and sad in my opinion. Unfortunately this election has brought out a very ugly side in some long time DUers. Those are the ones that really get to me. Those are the ones that bring a tear to my eye when I click the ignore button.

I do not judge other on their choice of candidates. I believe everyone has a right to support who they choose without being bullied by others. Anyone who gives me the same respect is a-okay in my book.

7. Not to rain on your parade, but I personally don't give a shit
about Hillary supporters feelings. They don't give a shit about mine either, and that's how I like it.

Look, this is about politics, and policies much more than anything else. If folks want to become anti-choice NeoCon warmonger supporters because they are "mad" then I say, so be it.

I'm not about to be held hostage, or made to feel like I've done anything other than expressing my views and call them as I see them through this campaign. I have put DU folks on ignore so that I didn't have to get pissed off and make stuff personal, cause believe you me, it ain't.

This election is about our children, this war, our future, and not about some politicians.

I support Barack Obama proudly, and I'm not about to get shit on my face because some folks decided to personally get offended. That is solely their problem, and they can be upset about it forevermore and hold a grudge, or they can grow the fuck up and realize that this is politics, and as Hillary famously said in 2003, "during the primaries you fall in love, but during the general election, you fall in line".

The Primaries aren't over yet, but they soon will be. At that time, those who are "mad" will leave, and if and when they change their minds, they can come back with a different identity. Those who will never get over it, all I can say is goodbye. Your love landed you in a place that doesn't make sense. Good luck with that.

8. Some of the angry people will leave, others will get over it.
That's the nature of the primaries. Not everybody with a bruised ego is going to go on that way permanently.
