Clinton Supporters What do you want from us Seriously
Edited on Thu May-15-08 02:48 PM by Jake3463
We try to play nice and say no hard feelings than you smack our hands and say "Do you think that makes up for what you did and said the past 3 months"

Than in the next breath you keep threatning to vote for on edit Nader or nobody if we don't play nice?

You tell us this isn't over and than when we act like its not over you get even madder by us continuing the fight?

Seriously What do you want?

11. It needs veal.
Veal and ground beef.
I like to use a special seasoning blend from Penzey's spices (good, cheap source for bulk spices). I will even send you some if you'd like - I have plenty :)

47. If you don't want to use veal, ground turkey works great as a substitute
It gives the meatballs a really nice meaty punch.

54. There's an organic/all natural mix I get in a little brown bag at the store.
I can't think of the name, I'll check the cupboard to see if I have some. But it's actually a meatloaf mix, and it's incredible! A few meatloaves back, I tried it for the first time - it was heaven sent. The price was good too.

Okay, can do!
(This is a variant of my Cajun Meatloaf)

Cajun Meatballs

INGREDIENTS
1 pound lean ground beef
1 1/2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce
2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup fresh bread crumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
1/2 cup barbeque sauce
1/2 cup peach preserves

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a medium baking sheet.

In a large bowl, mix thoroughly the ground beef, hot pepper sauce, Cajun seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, onion, bread crumbs, milk, and egg.

Form the mixture into golf ball sized meatballs and place on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until there is no pink left in the middle.

In a small bowl, combine the barbeque sauce and peach preserves.

When meatballs are done, place in a serving dish and cover with the barbeque sauce mixture. Toss to coat.

Yeah: you'd think with $109 million in the bank (not to mention the undisclosed $24 million of Bill's that was just discovered),
she'd tell the kid to keep his bike, keep his video games, and maybe even throw in a $25 gift certificate to Wal-Mart, for his dedication.

And she thinks this will impress us? What a skewed mentality at work there.

45. Yeah, and anyone who refused to vote for Al Gore in 2000 was an asshole.
Sure, if they voted for Bush they were doubly an asshole, but they were still an asshole if they refused to vote for Gore because they wanted to stomp their feet and way "waaaaah".

Same goes for anyone who refuses to vote for our nominee this year. If our nominee was going to be Hillary, you can bet your ass I would be voting for her. Period, end of story.

Edited on Thu May-15-08 02:50 PM by asthmaticeog
Seriously, I'm with you - I've seen like a dozen of these fucking "Obama supporters need to be nice to us" threads, but all they ever do is threaten to withhold their votes from the Democratic party in the general, they never say specifically what they want these mercurial and largely hypothetical Obama supporters who apparently are just SOOOO awful to them to DO.

And I'll say it for the billionth time: basing one's vote on whether or not one particularly likes a given group of anonymous people on 'net discussion boards displays an almost criminal level of dumb.

Edit: really ridiculous typo

104. Oh god, no.
I'm ONLY talking about the folks who're posting that specific kind of OP - the type that starts out with a demand that Obama supporters be nice to Clinton supporters (and it's always global like that, for some reason - I think most people on both sides (as if there were only two sides, right? ;)) are pretty much rational and civil, yet the demand seems to always be made of ALL Obama supporters, though of course GDP is going to see a higher concentration of twits, leading perhaps to a selection bias), followed by a never explicitly stated but always subtextually present threat to withhold a dem vote in the general election if the niceness demand isn't met. I've never seen you or Ronny post that kind of trollish horseshit. In fact I would be utterly astonished if I saw either of you threatening to stay home or vote McCain or third-party based on how DUers act. If I was unclear that my opprobrium was directed ONLY at those kind of trollish posters and not at all Clinton supporters, I apologize. You and Ronny are certainly not among the people I was exasperated with, who, indeed, I think are in a tiny but teeth-grindingly annoying minority. I could go look up threads and specify usernames, but I really don't want to call anyone out, 'cuz if this post were to get deleted before you saw it, I'd dread what you might think I said.

For the constant trashing of democrats to stop

For the trashing of each other to stop.

For people to treat each other with at least a minimum of respect.

For all of us to respect each others choices.

For people to no longer feel like an unwanted enemy for daring to think differently.

I will not offer my vote in return because frankly, the nominee already has it.

That is what I want.

64. Have you seen these quotes from Terry McAuliffe?
"I'm going outside the primary window," told me definitively.

"If I allow you to do that, the whole system collapses," I said. "We will have chaos. I let you make your case to the DNC, and we voted unanimously and you lost."

He kept insisting that they were going to move up Michigan on their own, even though if they did that, they would lose half their delegates. By that point Carl and I were leaning toward each other over a table in the middle of the room, shouting and dropping the occasional expletive.

"You won't deny us seats at the convention," he said.

"Carl, take it to the bank," I said. "They will not get a credential. The closest they'll get to Boston will be watching it on television. I will not let you break this entire nominating process for one state. The rules are the rules. If you want to call my bluff, Carl, you go ahead and do it."

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/4/25/165935/668/909/503541

http://www.americablog.com/2008/03/terry-mcauliffe-sang-different-tune.html

So in 2004, the rules were the rules, but now the rules are... what? Bullshit?

The DNC has rules about primary scheduling for a reason. We throw them out, and next time around all hell is guaranteed to break loose.

It's unfortunate, but MI & FL broke those rules, and the lesson here is next time around everyone needs to play BY the rules.

58. Admit the MLK, LBJ hysteria was started by the Obama team not the Clintons
The race card was played against Hillary, not the other way around.

The bigotry against Appalachia was a bad move too.

59. If I recall it was started by the media (the LBJ thing)
But I do agree that that comment was taken out of context.

I don't recall anyone in Obama's campaign showing bigotry towards Appalachia. People on DU don't represent the campaign and Obama has no control over what we do or say.

I would also like to see the hostility and insults toward Senator Clinton stop also. Just a little respect would be nice.

71. Respect on both sides, totally agree.
And I agree with not forcing it and letting things just heal.

I do have to brag: I work with a Hillary supporter and we've had nothing but respectful, productive discussions about this primary. We're both pretty proud of ourselves, LOL!

69. I say this as an Obama supporter, but I think everyone
should just leave things alone for a while. By that, I don't just mean one side or another, but both sides. If you keep picking at a scab, it takes a lot more time to heal.

Just leave it be, I say. Which would mean this very forum would have to go away. So until this forum vanishes, the scab will probably keep getting picked by those wanting to pick it. On BOTH sides.

77. None of this is new, and it's handled a certain way in politics.
Edited on Thu May-15-08 03:30 PM by TexasObserver
First, the candidate that is beaten has to be a gracious loser. They have to acknowledge they've lost, thank their supporters, compliment the candidate who beat them, swear to support the ticket, and ask their supporters to follow their lead.

Then, the winner graciously accepts that concession, says nice things about the loser, and urges his supporters to welcome with open arms the loser's supporters.

Then, the two sides start to mingle, and try to resolve some of the animus.

None of this can happen, however, when the loser continues on a path of inflicting destruction on the party and the presumptive nominee. No one on the Hillary side should expect anything but antipathy as long as her campaign is being a surrogate for John McCain. The losers have to step into line, then the winners graciously respond. Tantrums are for children, not adults working to get a new president.

90. I think we need a good therapist in here...
Neither side can hear what the other is saying at this point. There is so much negativity and ill-will built up, our minds simply will not allow it. It's now a circular argument.

Hillary Supporter: "They were gloating jerks who shouted us down and insulted us if we didn't bow to their candidate"

Obama Supporter: "Yeah? Well they were irrational drama queens who are trying to destroy the party!"

Hillary Supporter: "See! You can't help but be rude. I'll never vote for Obama!"

Obama Supporter: "See! I told you they were irrational bitches!"

Sigh. We need an intervention.
