Poll question: If your DREAM Candidate chose your Worst Nightmare for the VP slot, would you still vote for them?
Edited on Thu May-15-08 04:40 PM by IanDB1
Now, I know some of you were thinking in terms of Hillary / Obama or Obama / Hillary.

If so, you're thinking too small.

What if Barbara Boxer was running for President (YAY!) and she picked as her running mate (Shudder!) Pat Buchanan?

Or what if Obama is your dream candidate and he picked, for his running mate, Jeb Bush?

What about a Dennis Kucinich / David Duke ticket?

Al Franken and Alan Keyes? Oh, there's a dilemma.

Or, for you lurking Republicans out there, what if George W. Bush got to run for a third term, but picked Al Sharpton as his running mate? Or if you're a Republican, would you vote for President Rick Santorum if he chose Barney Frank as his running mate?

Now, remember the rules. There is no middle ground. This is a forced-binary poll. You can't say, "Well, it depends on HOW bad their running mate is." Because this poll is about what you would do if THE BEST POSSIBLE CANDIDATE picked THE WORST POSSIBLE RUNNING MATE.

Oh, also assume that the other party is running the two runner-up options for "worst possible." For example, Fred Phelps / Bill O'Reilly (or if you're a Republican, Jane Fonda / Helen Thomas)

Now, close your eyes, and pick the most awesome Presidential candidate your mind can conjure up.

And now think of which politician you absolutely hate the most.

If your own, personal dream candidate chose your own worst nightmare as a running mate, would you vote for them?

2. I suppose that IS a factor in your decision.

Especially if the Dream / Nightmare is something like Jesse Jackson / G. Gordon Liddy.

1. I worked for and voted for Al Gore in 2000.
Of course, Lieberman wasn't quite as bad in those days. He started to show his true colors during the Florida recount.

7. Like if Barbara Boxer chose Fred Phelps, you'd assume she knew something that you didn't?
Like maybe Phelps had told her that the whole "god hates fags" thing has just been street theater to win sympathy for gay causes?

9. Gore picked Lieberman didn't he..
and he's still one of my favorite politicians. V.P. is important, but, no candidate or v.p. or any other politician trumps what I believe in and what I want for this country, and the fact that almost any Democrat is better than the best Republican to accomplish that.
