Turn out the Lights, the Party's Over

You know there's trouble in Anusville when the woman who once fed words to The Great Communicator says things like this...

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121088369408596389.html?mod=todays_columnists

(In fact, I found the article pretty boring and unenlightening overall... The best snippets appear below.)

Is the Republican solid South over?

"Yeah. Oh yeah." He said, "I eat lunch every day at Buck's Cafe. Obama's picture is all over the wall."

...

Mr. Bush has squandered the hard-built paternity of 40 years. But so has the party, and so have its leaders. If they had pushed away for serious reasons, they could have separated the party's fortunes from the president's. This would have left a painfully broken party, but they wouldn't be left with a ruined "brand," as they all say, speaking the language of marketing. And they speak that language because they are marketers, not thinkers. Not serious about policy. Not serious about ideas. And not serious about leadership, only followership.

This is and will be the great challenge for John McCain: The Democratic argument, now being market tested by Obama Inc., that a McCain victory will yield nothing more or less than George Bush's third term.

That is going to be powerful, and it is going to get out the vote. And not for Republicans.

3. I have a scarecrow
a wooden figure with a George Bush halloween mask stuffed with straw for a head. The mask has been getting slimy, weathered and corroded over the last few years.

Then a few weeks ago it toppled over in a heavy rain. The wood splintered at the base and the head flopped face down in the mud and weeds. Maybe I'll just let the weeds grow over it.

A fitting end.

6. right
I'll make sure that donkey craps on it in November...:kick:

An exorcism on the spot on Halloween (right before election day) would be appropriate.

And then the dingoes will shred it...

:toast:

7. just remember, while it's brains are straw, it doesn't have a heart and
hides behind others for courage.....

I wish my ruby slippers could stomp on it a few times, though....

even Kansas isn't Kansas anymore

I'm too superstitious to party just yet...but I see hope is on the rise around here and that sure is a good thing.

5. Good Plan

If you leave it there now, it should be seasoned perfectly by the time next Halloween rolls around.

I'll leave it there all summer and resurrect it for a final exorcism on Halloween. Make it all corpse like with a black shroud. Expose the horrible head for its final death throes. I know lots of people who'd come to that party.

8. If endlessly repeating something makes it true, this is true.
