You are not a feminist if
You supported Hillary and her platform and plan not to vore for Obama against McCain

You supported Hillary and her platform and you plan to vote for Nader or MCkinney or whoever instead of voting for Obama. The only two viable candidates are the two nominees of the major parties.

You supported Hillary and her platform and you actually plan to vote for John McCain. You are abandoning all the issues that we feminists value and many of us fought for. John McCain is the antithesis of those issues and values.

It's not simply about the SCOTUS and appointments. It's about the economic welfare of women and children. It's about not sending anymore women off to Iraq and away from their families to injury or even death.

If you don't value the issues that are of great importance to women enough to vote for the only viable candidate who's aligned with those issues in November, you aren't a feminist. You may have been. But you won't be if you take that step and sit it out, vote for a Nader or worse still, vote for McCain. And had Hillary been the nominee, I'd say the same damn thing to Obama supporters saying they wouldn't vote for hillary.

You will simply have become a supporter of a candidate rather than a supporter of the democratic platform and/or progressive, feminist values.

What a shame.

1. I am a feminist because I chose my destiny. I'm proud that HRC is my
candidate for the past decade ... we share long term goals and I appreciate her intelligent strategy.

And she became Chelsea's mom as well. Brava!

You can be bitter - what have you done w/your life. Mine? Only a feminist could have accomplished what I've done ... my yeshiva sisters are fine, but anonymous.

2. You can be a feminist and support Hillary or Obama...
but if you are willing to switch your support to McCain, then your feminist principles are far less important than the HRC cult of personality.

6. There's nothing vaguely bitter about the OP, nor am I a bitter person.
I'm not terribly interested in talking about myself to you. Suffice to say, I've worked for women's issues for a long time- beginning with the ERA. I've had a career in social services. I've raised a kid. I have good friends that are like family.

And sadly, you were completely unable to actually respond to the point I clearly made and have nothing but ad hominem attacks.

3. If you join a collective action plugged by RW radio hosts
to bring "chaos" to the Democratic party.

Even if your reasons are different than theirs, you're a participant and playing right into their hands. That can't feel right.

4. Another One:
You are not a feminist if you voted for Hillary simply because she is a woman.

Feminism was about equal rights, allowing the best person for the job to be selected not making women superior.

5. No true democrat is going to go to the polls and vote FOR McCain.
It won't happen. If they do it, they aren't a member of this party.

7. While I agree with that, many Hillary supporters who insist that they
are true dems are threatening to vote for McCain.

12. There will be very few in the end.
McCain will mean the end of Roe Vs Wade If someone is willing to support him to spite Obama regardless they were never a democrat in the first place.

McCain WILL mean the loss of Roe Vs Wade. PERIOD.. This election is critical because of that.

13. I hope you're right. I think this is why Obama (wisely)
has handled the end of things with kid gloves and shown respect for Hillary and her supporters.

Unless you've been elected National Feminist Arbiter, and no one told me about it.

Edited on Fri May-16-08 11:22 AM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
You post dumbass OP's with no legitimacy whatsoever as to what is and is a feminist.

You support dumbass OP's with no legitimacy whatsoever as to what is and is a feminist, yet claiming to be such.

17. gad. you can do better than that. You're DU's self-professed genius
who can out argue any fancy pants Ph.D holder. Or so you've bragged.

What do you disagree with in the OP. Try and be specific instead of clinging to your usual routine of inane insults.

And you? What's been your involvement with the feminist movement? Why should anyone credit you with knowing the first thing about feminist thought or philosophy?

18. The OP Is Logically Void And Quite Dumb.
Doesn't really require more of an argument than that from where I sit. Deal with it.

20. sorry, that's beyond weak and demonstrates that you have no
argument. You can lamely bellow that the sky is purple polka dots and it doesn't require anything but your vaunted word, but I'll still laugh at you.

Thanks for the amusement.

It's funny and fun to see the man who claims he can out argue anyone reduced to "because I say so".

:hi:
