Bob Schrum said something interesting on NY1 last night
He said that during JFK's campaign, 25% of the people polled said they wouldn't vote for a Catholic president. And yet JFK won. He also said of course, perhaps 10% of the population won't vote for Obama simply because he's black, but that doesn't mean he can't get elected.

2. JFK won by the thinnest of margins.
He didn't know he was president until the next morning.

3. right, there will always be people who don't vote for a candidate
for stupid reasons. what we need to focus on is getting out people who will vote.

Obama is strong in areas that other people are not such as getting out younger voters.

7. Kennedy didn't have a huge voter registration drive

Obama is likely to register somewhere between 10-20 million new voters - already has 3.5 million

Not only that the younger the voter the more likely they will vote for Obama.

If you can get a voter to vote 3 times straight in a national election for the same party the rate that they will stay in that party is very high.

Not only is Obama going to get elected he is going to have a dramatic impact on the party for a long time.

If the Kennedys were more aware of the numbers maybe they would have been more enthusiastic about the Civi Rights Act and getting blacks to register and vote.

8. The Kennedys didn't have the internets. But I agree -- between Obama
and Dean, we're well into a new era of Democrats in power.
