6. Actually the VP is chosen by the Convention. Usually the delgates go along with the Nom's choice but
this year, anything could happen. Kennedy didn't want Johnson!

9. Obama will make his wishes known well...
...before the Convention, and the delegates will give the nod to the nominee.

My guess is that Obama picks a very popular running mate, like Edwards or Webb. There will
be no problems and no side show. Once he is our nominee, everything will change.

28. What about Boxer, or Sebelius, of Napolitano, or Stabenow?
Not picking a woman running mate in this election cycle would be a serious tactical error in my arrogant opinion, just as choosing Hillary would also be -- not a good idea.

31. no
A 68-year old San Francisco liberal? What state does that help him win?

Same for Boxer, only add that she'd be replaced by a Republican governor, and she's Jewish - which doesn't help Obama win any states.

I think it's humorous how every woman of any fame is proposed as his VP, as if picking a random woman somehow helps his "hillary problem".

41. I do NOT think Pelosi is either remotely likely or politically desirable ...
Being in the House doesn't give you nearly the foreign policy credentials that the Senate does. And as for charisma/popularity, Boxer is arguably the BEST in CA that the Democrats have. Pelosi isn't even close.

Also, Boxer having voted NO on the Iraq War Resolution could mean a lot. There are at least a dozen or more possible women that I would prefer and that I think Obama would prefer to Pelosi on the ticket.

I would give better than even odds that whether the VP nominee is Hillary or not, it will probably be a woman, and I simply don't buy the notion that these things don't matter. No one maintained that pretense when Ferraro was on the ticket in 84 -- there was a large insistence on a woman on the ticket, with some in CA saying "A feminist, not a Feinstein".

If Obama is our nominee, he gets to select his running mate.

More entitlement from the Hillary camp. Does it ever end?

Edited on Fri May-16-08 09:42 PM by Labors of Hercules
How the fuck did she get the right to channel the hopes and frustrations of ALL women?

most of my closest friends are women, and they ALL support Obama.

My beef is with Hillary, NOT with women. (And I think we can safely say the same is true for Obama).

34. Please don't lump all ladies together.
I am a woman and would be very ticked if Hillary were on the ticket or if a woman was picked just for thier sex.
Obama has a whole lot of women voters out there to, their not all going to Hillary. If they don't want to vote for him let them stay home, the rest of us and others will do what we feel is right. I personally don't believe we should be blackmailed into a candidate or VP by threats not to vote. You don't want to vote...then don't friggen vote. Simple as that.

36. I don't see Clinton supporters
trying to destroy Obama, drive him out of the party and purge this board of his supporters. I don't see Clinton supporters posting "Fuck Obama!" every day here. I just saw another post calling her "a sack of shit". That kind of hateful invective seems to come almost entire from Obama fans.

Clinton is not running a campaign based on changing the very nature of politics in America. She doesn't claim to be leading a new paradigm of unity and reconciliation.

So your stupid mimicking of my post was just dumb.

38. I see Clinton supporters
trying to destroy Obama. You don't? One word to that bullshit: "Wright"

And Clinton IS running a campaign based on change. She said she had 35 years experience in bringing change, don't you remember? here, let me refresh your memory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EhydLhz48_k

Here's a campaign ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lB-Xqi_dcDY

I could see where she doesn't want to talk much about unity since her one real shot, while dealing with health care in the 90's, was such an utter disaster. Since then, though, she's been plenty willing to bring the parties together to vote for war and sabre-rattling.

So my mimicking of your post was pretty right-on.
