"Private citizen" funded DNC protest rally?

I decided to snoop around a bit after someone posted info. on an upcoming DNC protest
rally. The application states that James M. Hannagan, FL State Chair, is shouldering the
bulk of the expenses. The expenses includes transportation and lodging for volunteers
coming from out of state...

When I researched more, I found an email from James Hannagan sent to "Team Hillary". I
assume this is a group of volunteers organized by the Clinton Camp. The email is about a
similar protest that was held in April. In the email, Hannagan states that a private citizen
was taking care of all expenses- transportation on buses, meals and lodging!

Who IS this private citizen? And is there a conflict of interest going on here? Something seems
amiss here.

1. Thanks for starting an investigative thread on the money trail

I suspect it is more than one individual, 'private citizen' will be traceable
and the truth will come out, as it always does when you follow the money.

When it comes out who is financing this PSYOPS operation, I think it will
be an embarrassment to some supporters when they realize who
is really manipulating them.

I'm sure the funding for this "independent" effort comes from one of Hill's deep pocket backers.

Hillary? Maybe a little, but really not that much impact on
the nomination process that has been in place for 2 years.

The Repuglicans? Definitely will, by sowing discourse and hoping
for free air time and propaganda points to catapult to the masses.

10. You make a valid point, but the retired teacher/farmer's great-grand daughter in me cannot help .
but make a correction. I think you mean to say "sowing discord," now "sewing discourse".
"Sowing" refers to throwing handfuls of seed on the ground.

12. I think he is the front organization and not the money master
His company's assets are not strong enough to have the deep pockets
that could fiance this PSYOPS operation. It looks like his compainies assets
are around $10 million with 50 employees.

But it is a great start... Thanks.

Renting out buses (not cheap).... Of course this will be hard to

to Limbaugh or the Clinton Camp, it will be scandalous.

His marketing company is based out of MA, CT and FL. He is also
headed up the April DNC protest and is coordinating the upcoming
protest.

It was CLAIMED that he shouldered the bulk of the April expenses, but
now a "private citizen" is paying for the next round. ????

21. Figure at least $300 per each 'protestor' with transportation and lodging
which would include handling and administrational costs. I think that figure is low and all this money has to come up front. They have no way of knowing how many will sign up for this.

Now, Do you see why deep pockets are necessary? Harragan doesn't have this type of cash
on hand.

28. Here's his group and a video of him.. also LULAC involved in it.
Edited on Sat May-17-08 10:53 AM by madfloridian
Hi, here's a video of Hannagan.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_PqPgHh7Vg

Here's his group he started.

http://www.floridademandsrepresentation.org/

They had a rally at the DNC before that was very ugly...Wasserman Schultz, Corrine Brown, and many yelling at Dean to "be a man". Dean wasn't there, he was in CT.

At first they denied being Clinton supporters, then said they were not supposed to talk about it.

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/2051

The group had a high level of Hispanics and African Americans, I think.

Buoyed by the results in Pennsylvania, bus loads of Floridians -- mostly backers of Sen. Hillary Clinton -- will head to Washington for an April 30th rally before the Democratic National Committee's headquarters. The group is looking to confront party leaders and argue that the Sunshine State's disqualified January primary results should be counted. They are asking that all 2ll Florida delegates be seated at the August convention in Denver, a decision that would help in the delegate-numbers-game for the New York senator."

"We will shut down the convention!" exclaimed Rep. Corrine Brown. "If we are not seated, then nobody is going to be seated!"

Brown, a superdelegate pledged to Clinton, addressed a crowd of about 150 who had been bused up to D.C. from Florida this week under the auspices of LULAC, an Hispanic advocacy group. Though Brown and another super who spoke -- Rep. Hilda Solis -- are in the Clinton camp, organizers went out of their way to remove any hint that they favored one or the other Democrat in the race. Many in the crowd wore T-shirts with the name of each Democratic candidate, from Kucinich to Dodd to Richardson to Obama, printed across the back in the shape of a rainbow. There was but one Hillary '08 shirt or button to be seen.

"We're not supposed to talk about that," confided Harriet Meltzer, 83, a member in good standing of the Del Ray Democratic Club, though she allowed that she was, in fact, a Clinton supporter. "What's he going to do when he goes to the Middle East?" she asked of Obama, who she deems to be lacking in experience. "Charm them?"

LULAC highly involved, still looking for other groups.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ron-levitt/disenfranchised-florida-v_b_98458.html

'How dare they not count our 1,749,000 votes, says Linda Bird, a Fort Lauderdale
realtor and Democratic activist, who adds, " Do they want a fight for our rights at the
convention in Denver?"

Bird is one of dozens of Floridians organizing rallies across the state to be held
Saturday (April 26), a warm-up to the departing caravan of buses scheduled to leave Tuesday
from several Florida locations, carrying some 700 protesters determined to "make our point." The protesters -- a broad mix of independents, Republicans and Democrats being organized by a new non-partisan group called Florida Demanding Representation (FDR) -- are expecting to meet with several Congressional leaders on Wednesday for the 10 a.m. rally.

Lyn Carpenter of Clearwater Beach, a business development executive and Democratic volunteer, said that voters from several locations -- Jacksonville, Tallahassee, South Florida, Orlando, the Tampa Bay area -- would be aboard the buses.

The Florida bus convoy is the latest in a series of activities which has evolved from wrath at the DNC's action in punishing Florida because it held its primary voting a week ahead of Super Tuesday -- even though the date was really set by the Republican-dominated legislature.

FDR founder Jim Hannigan, a marketing executive from Palm Harbor who is not affiliated with the
Democratic party but who is angry that his vote is not being counted, called a meeting of some
dozen citizens six weeks ago and launched a webpage for the fledging organization behind the Washington caravan. FDR is dedicated "to protect the voting rights of Florida citizens."

It's suspicious.

Like a LaRouche type. Thanks for the links. I don't think we have

35. Google check of 800 number
Edited on Sat May-17-08 11:11 PM by Rocky2007
This was one of the first things that came up. It's an interesting read. The guy is not the brains of this operation. Door to door hoover salesman maybe. Keep in mind he held his first planning meeting a month before the April 26th trip to DC with 750 people --- and he only had one person attend/??

Orlando Weekly March 23, 2008
http://www.orlandoweekly.com/columns/story.asp?id=12245
"Desperate times call for desperate Democratic measures, and at Saturday’s kickoff planning meeting for the Orange County chapter of Florida Democrats Demand Representation (FD2R – ha!) at the I-Drive Holiday Inn, desperation was about the only thing in attendance. That, and one lady in a cowboy hat with a “Hillary” button on it.

The brainchild of Tampa marketing guy Jim Hannagan – who claims to have flown from his other home in Massachusetts to vote for Hillary in the Jan. 29 primary – FD2R is hoping to gather some 1.5 million signed petitions (72,000 from Orange County) to slap on Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean’s desk. According to Hannagan, the unseating of the Democratic delegates is akin to cursing the valiant efforts of America’s original colonists.

“I was so frustrated with what was going on,” he said. “It just defeats the principles that were instilled in me.”

The group claims to have received more than 7,000 petitions in just 12 days. Hannagan understands that this may all be an expensive dance with futility, but doesn’t seem to mind. “The worst thing for democracy is apathy,” he says. If you’d like to join Hannagan’s crusade, phone him at 800-684-7571. Or just sit on your fat ass like you always do."

Judging from what I have read the office structure is:

Jim Hannagan at 1-888-599-1586 or by email at jhannagan@floridademandsrepresentation.org.

Here's his website:

http://www.floridademandsrepresentation.org/index.html

Meanwhile, the St. Petersburg Times is reporting that FDR Chair Jim Hannagan, the man behind the effort to count Florida's votes on Jan. 29, did not vote in the primary. Hannagan denies that, saying that the Pinellas County voting records are wrong, and that he did vote.

How can voting records be "wrong"?.?.? Either he just didn't sign in (which I don't think is allowable) or HE IS A LIAR.
