I hope he's OK
I had the privilege to see him speak with Obama the day he endorsed him. He's a larger than life figure and a great American. Let's hope this isn't as bad as the rumors.

By CAPE COD TIMES
May 17, 2008

HYANNIS -- U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy was rushed by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital this morning after falling ill at the Kennedy compound in Hyannisport.

Hyannis fire responded to the compound after a call was made around 8:30 a.m. It's unclear what Kennedy's medical condition is, but after he spent almost two hours in the emergency room a decision was made to transfer him to Mass General Hospital in Boston.

Kennedy, 76, was placed on a stretcher and wheeled out to the MedFlight helicopter around 10:15 a.m. where it took off from Barnstable Municipal Airport.

The Kennedy family is preparing to host the annual Best Buddies Challenge event in Hyannisport this afternoon, which is a fund-raiser for the organization. Best Buddies was founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver and helps people with intellectual disabilities.

Hundreds are expected to participate in the event, which kicked off this morning with a 100-mile bicycle ride from the Kennedy Library in Boston to Hyannisport.

A concert at the Kennedy compound is scheduled for tonight.

Kennedy has represented Massachusetts in the United States Senate for forty-three years.

He was elected in 1962 to finish the final two years of the Senate term of his brother, Senator John F. Kennedy, who was elected president in 1960.

Since then, Kennedy has been re-elected to seven full terms, and is now the second most senior member of the Senate.

It doesn't sound good. CNN is now saying he was medivacked to Mass. Gen. All they're saying is "stroke like sympthoms".

HYANNIS, Mass. -- Sen. Edward M. Kennedy was rushed by ambulance to Cape Cod Hospital after falling ill at the Kennedy compound in Hyannisport, The Cape Cod Times reported Saturday.

Hyannis fire responded to the compound after a call was made around 8:30 a.m., the newspaper reported on its Web site. Pat Buchanan is on talking about how this will affect Obama. "Well, he didn't help in Mass. He would have been a great help in the Western states that Obama has trouble in. If something happened to him, it will be a big loss to the Obama campaign."

41. Agree. I think Pat actually lives in his car in the MSNBC parking garage.
He wakes up and goes in for talking head shows and stays well into each evening, then meanders out to his car to catch a few winks.

Kind of pathetic, but maybe it works for Pat.

He speech-wrote for Dick Nixon, and after Watergate and the deluge of repudiation for his old boss, poor Pat just hasn't been able to put the pieces together.

36. I was in DC once
years ago, and I was walking toward the Capitol when I noticed Ted Kennedy coming toward me, his head down, looking like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders. I said: "Good morning, Mr. Kennedy" and extended my hand. He shook my hand, probably barely noticing me, then I added: "Thank you for all you do." He looked surprised and brightened considerably. "You're welcome!" he said, and we moved on. It made me wonder just how often these people ever hear those words "Thank you."
