"It's easy to get ... blacks to vote for the Democratic candidate"
I just read that statement on the Internet. Not at Free Republic, but at DU. I have to be honest and say that this kind of liberty with what "blacks" will or will not do is beginning to disgust me.

Am I wrong to think that this is racism? Am I just too sensitive when I read something like this and feel like the poster is claiming that "blacks" are no more than a commodity that the Democratic party can use in whatever way it desires?

Is there any reason "blacks" shouldn't read this and just say "To Hell with it, I'm staying home"? Would you vote for someone who said that you meant nothing more than a solid block of numbers?

Oh! just in case anyone is wondering, the "..." in the title was "latte liberals and".

1. That's what Hillary and her supporters have been reduced to....

They've become George Wallace right before our eyes.

Or perhaps they always were.... but they hid it well until now.

30. I think this sort of comment has no business at DU.
It should be deleted by the mods.

But that does not mean that this person is a typical Clinton supporter.

We ALL need to stand up to this kind of racist propaganda, regardless of the candidate we support.

I just keep wondering why they aren't banned yet. There was a time when racism wasn't tolerated at DU, now it's par for the course.

15. Blacks have consistently voted for the Democratic nominee since the 70s.
The facts are the facts.

Sorry you don't want to hear them.

Even when Mondale lost in a blowout, he still won 90% of the black vote.

19. African Americans are NOT a commodity and it is racist to consider them as such.
I don't care who you support or who you don't. Suggesting that African Americans can be counted on to vote Democratic regardless of issues, and can therefore be neglected, is disgusting and racist.

You've neglected to observe that the demographic support a candidate has is limited by the turnout of said demographic. 60% of eligible African Americans voted in 1984, five points below the average of total eligible voters.

In 2000 and 2004, African Americans voted in percentages greater than the national average of eligible voters. The first time since records have been kept by the U.S. Census, not including midterm elections. Thus Gore and Kerry benefitted from greater turnout of a reliable constituency. This is why "Get Out the Vote" efforts are so important.

32. Brats, it IS someone I have on ignore, obviously I can make a good judgement
on who the racists are here. I only have a few on ignore, because I try and not make a habit of ignoring what others say here. So, I can keep track of what kind of hate they spew. I read some of their crap, but it has gotten to the point I skip over what they spew in the threads.

Just like the one your upset about, I have little patience for bigotry and racists attitudes, especially when it concerns the Democratic Party.

Could you PM me with who it is?.?.?

Thanks.

38. Thanks, although the assO isn't on my ignore, but I guess the person who started the thread is
I don't know why that particular poster is still here. I have nothing but hate from him.

Even when he was for Obama, and even more so since he's Flipped Flopped.

I have come to the conclusion he is only here to stir up shit. A disruptor, A ConMan. If you go to his profile he has blocked it. NOT even man enough to identify himself.

Cheer up with just a few more weeks left maybe he'll pack his bags and head back over to Freeperville.

34. They think we're still back on the plantation and massuh is entitled
to manual labor without pay. When will they get it through their thick heads that the black vote cannot be taken for granted? When will they understand that the Clintons are not entitled to SHIT??!?!?!

They have to EARN the vote, just like JFK did, just like LBJ did, just like Carter did, just as Clinton did, and Gore, and Kerry...

We are smarter than that and it is simply racist and insulting to assume that the Clintons or any Democrat, for that matter, will automatically get the black vote.

IT MUST BE EARNED!! PERIOD!!
