What a day if the worlds greatest nation
Slow down, you move too fast
You've got to make the morning last
Just kickin' down the cobble stones
Looking for fun and feelin' groovy!

i got up this morning and it was saturday morning in the US
and i feel blessed to be part of it
i had to go to work this afternoon (i work while you play and so you CAN play so if my stereo is loud at 5 AM think about how nice your dinner was saturday night ,roll over and go back to sleep mmkay?)
i still had a sunny morning to do with as i wish
so i decided it was a good day to play boat guy
i recently bought a parker 2520

thats her
the Miss Navi-Gator
sweet lines huh?
great deep sea platform and fully rigged out
she needed new scuppers on her starboard transom
$11.99
and marine silicone sealant
$7.99

Hello, lamp post, whatcha knowing?
I've come to watch your flowers growing
Ain't ya got no rhymes for me?
Doot-in' doo-doo, feelin' groovy!

i decided to go all in and replaced the port scuppers too
another $11.99
spent the whole day underneath her and thinking
what a great place we have here
and sure it needs work too
but we have ALL the parts
i sat there in the sticker burrs and ants and thought about how really lucky we are again in america
to be able to choose our leaders and to be blessed with so many who are qualified

and i changed out my scuppers too
then i went home showered and worked
was your steak ok?

Got no deeds to do, no promises to keep
I'm dappled and drowsy and ready to sleep
Let the morning time drop all its petals on me
Life, I love you, all is groovy!

3. "drowsy" I get..... but what the heck does it mean to be "dappled"
I've been wondering that for years. The dictionary says: "marked with small spots or patches contrasting with the background." Did Simon or Garfunkle have the measles or maybe hives?

6. On a warm sunny day, beneath a shade tree, the dappled light plays
And one relaxing there may be called "dappled".

7. hmmmm..... maybe... but I smell cheap alliteration...
"I'm dimpled and drowsy and ready for sleep...."

"I'm drizzled and drowsy and...."

"I'm doped up and drowsy and ready for sleep."

I think they could have done better.

you must be one good songwriter

I'm sitting in the railway station.
Got a ticket for my destination.
On a tour of one-night stands my suitcase and guitar in hand.
And ev'ry stop is neatly planned for a poet and a one-man band.
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.
Ev'ry day's an endless stream
Of cigarettes and magazines.
And each town looks the same to me, the movies and the factories
And ev'ry stranger's face I see reminds me that I long to be,
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.

Tonight I'll sing my songs again,
I'll play the game and pretend.
But all my words come back to me in shades of mediocrity
Like emptiness in harmony I need someone to comfort me.
Homeward bound,
I wish I was,
Homeward bound,
Home where my thought's escaping,
Home where my music's playing,
Home where my love lies waiting
Silently for me.
Silently for me.

12. actually, I like this song better....
Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
'Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

"Fools", said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sounds of silence
