I do see one graphic element that you will find in may other posters (both political and popular) used in not the most original way.

Look at posters from the late 60's and 70's and you'll see the sunburst stripes used for musicians, concerts, boxing fights, etc.

I think it's ment to appeal to younger supporters. Can't say that I really like it, but it's a pretty unoriginal political poster.

IMO this new Hillary poster is a knock-off of the Obama one. Obama's campaign has really been successful at using graphic design to create some iconic images of the candidate. (All those stylized "hope", "dream" posters), which also goes w/the graphic design of his website. Meanwhile Hillary's site just has an earnest, boring layout of the issues and equally earnest, boring "Vote Hillary!" shirts.

I think this poster is an attempt to create some of the same iconic imagery for Hillary, but it just fails miserably. It's a little painful too, like watching an accountant try to dance ballet. Because that's not who she is at all - Obama is the superstar; Clinton is an earnest, boring, policy geek. That's why I like her. :)
