John McCain's house is in Architectual Digest
Edited on Sun May-18-08 03:33 PM by madaboutharry
John and Cindy McCain's house in Phoenix is profiled in the June Issue of Architectual Digest. Somehow, with the economy in the toilet and people actually getting thrown out of their homes due to foreclosure, I have to wonder if it was poor judgment to show the McCains living in a southwestern palace.

3. Which house? I hear they have several.
Edited on Sun May-18-08 03:52 PM by gateley
Just like the rest of us :eyes:

Edit to add -- I think they've since sold this, which I thought was kind of sad since it belonged to her parents.

5. How non-elite of him
After all, most working class folk have their homes in Architectural Digest at one time or another.

Typical blue collar motif here:

7. Aside from the decor inside being hideous, looking at that lush green lawn & pool speaks volumes.
Totally out of touch. They live in the freaking desert, and should have a xeriscaped lawn that doesn't require using vast amounts of water. It'd also be more aesthetically pleasing to the southwestern style architecture of their house.

Oh, and the brazillion photos on the piano--blech.

20. you obviously dont know many people who live in the desert of Arizona
they all have bright green lawns.

Nice elitist commentary here, and the way you responded to me, I thought you actually had a case.

27. Maybe in Snotsdale they do
I lived in metro Phoenix for three years - my landscaping was all native, with not a spot of grass, other than the occasional crabgrass that poked through the gravel. There were lots of Palo Verdes, Mesquites, and Saguaros in my neighborhood.

33. No, they don't, and my comments are the absolute opposite of "elitist."
No, not all people who live in the desert have bright green lawns, nor should they. It is EXTREMELY irresponsible to have a lawn like that in the desert, and it sets a horrible example.

I most certainly have a case. You, however, do not. All you can do in this thread is defend McCain. You want to explain to me WHAT is elitist about having an environmentally responsible yard?

Kinda takes away from displaying family pics if you have to move the first 5 rows of frames to see the 6th row pics.

Shorter McCain: "One of our eight homes is featured in the new Architechural Digest, but hey, look at the black guy with the single mom... what an elitist!!!"

Is that gonna fly?

Telling the truth is in no way negative, McSame is a Bush level liar! At first I thought he was a nut or a panderer of the worst kind but he's just a damn liar.

America would be a lot better off IMHO with someone who can relate to the issues the people face instead of someones who's house ends up in architectural digest.
