Campaigning in Kentucky, Clinton hears sermon on infidelity
Posted: 05:01 PM ET

From CNN Political Producer Alexander Marquardt

Hillary Clinton heard a sermon on marriage and infidelity at a church service Sunday.
BOWLING GREEN, Kentucky (CNN) – Hillary Clinton left Oregon late Friday night to focus her efforts on Kentucky before the state’s primary on Tuesday.

“My opponent said the other day he wasn’t coming back so I’ve got the whole state to myself. What a treat!” Clinton exclaimed at a Sunday afternoon rally at Western Kentucky University.

What was likely less of a treat was Pastor Paul Fryman’s sermon she heard Sunday morning at Bowling Green’s State Street United Methodist Church on marriage and adultery entitled “When the Devil Whispers Over Your Shoulder.”

Pastor Fryman launched into his sermon with Matthew 5, verse 27, “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”

The verse goes on to say anyone guilty is better off plucking out their eye or cutting off their hand lest they end up in hell.

Clinton did not speak at the service, nor was she recognized at any point from those on the alter, instead sitting quietly in the second pew praying and singing along with the rest of the congregation.

She smiled broadly as a baby was baptized and carried down the aisle by the pastor.

1. this has already been posted. And the Pastor of that church is
flaming asshole. He had to know she was attending and he shouldn't have offered such a sermon with her in attendence. Beyond insensitive and crass.

13. Bullshit - his sermons are decided in advance
Look at the schedules for his sermons. They are planned weeks in advance. He shouldn't be required to tailor his sermons to her sensitivities.

6. Ha! Tell that her lesbian lover, Vince Foster.
I never quite understood how right wingers reconciled the "Hillary is a lesbian" with the "She had her lover Vince Foster killed" bullshit.

Of course logic and right wingers intersect as often as perfectly parallel lines.

3. That must have been awful for her --
I'm assuming the Pastor was informed of her attendance at his service, and that topic was insensitive and unnecessary. He could have saved it until next week. What a jerk.

5. Funny that an Obama supporter would talk about hearing a sermon.
How many years did it take? 20?

7. Funny
How half the Obama supporters defended her.

Showing who has class and who doesn't.

8. That was in bad taste and completely uncalled for. Not the post, the sermon.

9. Seems to me a sermon on infidelity is a cake walk compared to the reality she lived through.
And anyway.....Bill Clinton's infidelity is nothing but a history lesson for those with nothing better to do with their time and energy.

10. Speechless...
I am speechless that a pastor of all people would do this. He had to have known she was going to be there. I have BTDT with the whole unfaithful hubby thing, and I can't imagine how it would feel to have such a sermon directed at me- and certainly it was directed at her. I can't imagine having to sit there calmly, while every eye and several cameras were focused on me looking for any glint of pain or discomfort. sheeeesh, what a jerk.

Hillary... this hug's for you:hug:
