Poll question: Yet another Obama VP poll.
Alright - so there have been a lot of these "Obama VP polls"; but I wanted to get all you folks take on three particular possibilities.

Of these three, who do you like best for VP on the Obama ticket?

Wes Clark - Retired four star general, born 12/23/44 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wesley_Clark

Jim Webb - Junior Senator from Virginia since 2006, born 2/9/46 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Webb

Kathleen Sebelius - Governor of Kansas since 2002, born 5/15/48 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathleen_Sebelius

2. Me, too, JD.
And as someone posted a day or two ago, Webb is hitting all the talk shows so maybe they're prepping us for that -- getting him some exposure?

4. I think they are the 3 most likely as well, so you are in luck.
I think they all bring something meaningful to an Obama ticket as well.

All good choices!

Enough with the military-industrial complex mentality that keeps our economy on a war footing all the time.

5. Webb & Electoral College
Jim Webb brings the potential for carrying Virginia to the ticket. Maybe NC too. If the Pubs don't carry Virginia, and if we hold onto Pennsylvania, it's "President Obama."

Unfortunately for this Californian, the election will be determined in the mid-South and Midwest.

7. Clark.
Webb is ok but we need him in the Senate and he'll have ridiculous questions to answer about his writings. Nothing there but they will manufacture something out of them.

Sebelius just doesn't bring anything to the table as far as National Security/Foreign Policy issues, Obama's perceived weakness.

Clark has more than both of them combined.

11. Wes Clark Works Too!
We have a lot of good choices, and General Clark is one of them. So much for "Dem's are soft on defense." Well, the Pub fucks will get the Mighty Wurlitzer to play anything, so I guess that's a forlorn hope.

14. He did not "absolutely renounce" being a Veep today.
He basically provided the same coy response many "short listers" give, only with a bit more bite.

***

Webb -- a decorated Vietnam vet who once was a Republican and served as Navy secretary in the Reagan administration -- was equally coy on NBC's "Meet the Press," where he was promoting his new book, "A Time to Fight: Reclaiming a Fair and Just America." Host Tim Russert noted that the press release accompanying the book described Webb as "the celebrated junior senator from Virginia, who is already being mentioned as a possible vice presidential nominee."

"I didn't write that," Webb demurred. Asked if he would be open to the position if either Obama or Clinton came to him, he replied: "I would highly discourage them is probably the best way to say it. ... At this point, no one's asking, no one's talking, and I'm not that interested, so."

15. That's the politically correct answer for a sitting Senator to make, and should he
accept the VP position the politically correct answer is "while this was not a position that I was pursuing, when the Commander in Chief calls I answered." It wouldn't be the first time.

Wes Clark, Anthony Zinni or Sebelius are my top 4. Webb needs to hold on to that VA senate seat, otherwise he is at the top of my list...

26. Webb, with reservations.
No question, he brings a LOT to the ticket. Plus, he's a straight talker, in a year when we should call the GOP out for the assholes they are.

My one concern is that he does not have a great background on women's issues, to put it mildly. However, the sheer hatred directed at Obama by some Hillary supporters here makes me believe that they would never vote for him anyway, no matter what the cost to women's rights or the Supreme Court.

So I think Webb would be a great choice. I wish all to hell that he could sit across a table at a debate with Dick Cheney. John Edwards in 2004 was a wimp (he's not now). Webb would not be.

27. Wes Clark
Jim Webb is a sitting senator - not good for 2 of them to run on the same ticket...

Sorry about Kathleen but the ticket needs a military strategist more than it needs a woman -

Wes Clark would be the strongest out of the 3.

30. Clark or Boxer
But I like Boxer better because it would be a woman on the ticket.

She is from a Big state and has lots of experience.

She also has not to my knowledge participated in the negative campaign tactics.

Help me understand why she would not be a good choice...

Thanks!

And what if any dirty laundry will the rethugs find or make up about the 2 ex wives?

34. Switching parties doesn't make him less of a Democrat. If anything
it shows an independent minded streak in him - which many folks will find appealing.

Certainly the people that want a life long Democrat will take issue with Webb - but in a "change" election where the "change" people seem to want is how business gets done in Washington; a Webb type may be a smart play.

But to each their own - I like all three (and more) for different reasons.
