I have already posted the policy statement on public transportation from his website on the Public Transportation and Smart Growth forum. I would have posted Hillary's too, but I couldn't find one. I can't drive due to a disability, so this is a major issue for me, and I never thought I'd see the day when it was actually on a presidential candidate's radar. Even Dennis Kucinich (my first-choice candidate) didn't have a policy statement on it when he was still running.

59. Yeah, I've got some pics of the crowd
but I forgot to bring the USB cord for my digital camera so I don't have a way to upload them right now. I'll post them Wednesday when I get back home.

The crowd was great! It was pretty warm and some people had been there a long time but everyone was upbeat. There were even some Hillary supporters standing near me who said they came out because they wanted to see Obama and expect they will be voting for him in the GE. They were widely accepted by all the Obamaniacs there. It's a really cool venue...basically just a park along the river here in Portland but there's a natural acoustic there that really had the crowd going...the cheering would start up and echo back on itself from the tall buildings near-by and the opposite bank of the river. I left about five minutes before the end of the speech because I've got a shaved head and didn't have a hat with me and my head was getting awful toasty, and could still hear the roars of the crowd from several blocks away as I walked back towards my hotel.

It was a truly uplifting experience. I saw him in Virginia/DC a few months back and that was great too, but this topped it by a lot.

73. I'm curious why they positioned Barack at one end of the bowl instead of in the middle
near the river (about halfway to where you were). I checked out google maps before the event and assumed that's where he would be. It seems to me a lot of people were blocked out by the two large trees to Barack's right.

I'm going to be going to Portland for the first time on vacation this summer, I can't wait. The polls have Barack winning Oregon by about 10 points. I think it will be a minimum of 20. What do you think?

And that crowd is really impressive, but...I have thought if Barack spoke on the Great Lawn in Central Park here in NYC on a nice weekend afternoon, he would draw a minimum of half a million people.

btw, did they have enough latte for everybody? :)

85. Not photoshopped. Crop the image and you'll see
The fuzzy white dot at the top left is a banner or rock of some sort --
it lines up with the left of the stage which lines up with the crowd edge
on the water side. The image was carefully cropped. The view of both
images foreshortens what is actually an elongated space curving all the
way around the marina. Not a huge park but big enough. I wonder if they
allowed anyone on the mall-like promenade north side of Hawthorne.

114. I was on the side street
where the police motorcade and all of the busses came in. Couldn't get near the rally. I parked on the east side of the river and walked across the Hawthorne bridge -- which was my original destination. Had to move on due to security. Yellow tape cordoned off all streets that led to Waterfront Park, and police and security were thick.

1.8 million voted in Oregon in the '04 GE. Still, 4% is very big number!

67. My daughter wrote a letter to CNN, and emailed me a copy.....
She wrote to http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form4.html?98

What happened to accurage coverage of the Sunday Obama Oregon rally that shattered all records of political rally attendance during a primary? Too many White Faces there for you all to report on? Seems kind of suspicious the Sunday before a Tuesday vote, that CNN would cover so much of McCain's NRA and SLN stunts, but Obama historical rally gets leftover coverage. Is CNN Scared that Kentucky might get wind of it?

A picture is worth a thousand words.

I will be getting in touch with all of the bloggers that I read, and all of the networks and other cable entities to have them find out why CNN passed on this story. What was the reason? Do you know, Mr. Sanchez? I'll await your reply. Thank you.

Sincerely,

The media is once again showing their bias today...as always.

What little coverage I saw today....they were still talking about the WV statistics about how many whites would not vote for Obama because of the Rev Wright controversey. The story is dead and they won't let it go.

Most of the reports I've seen (I didn't go) employed the max in some way or another, so the bicycle lockup could be distributed over a larger area. ;)
