...but did Obama or his surrogates ever go on the public airwaves and say "There are a lot of males in this country--decent, sensitive men--who are not voting for Hillary Clinton. There's definitely a pattern there." Or words to that effect? No.
The Obama campaign may not have explicitly mentioned sexism in the last couple of months, but the Clinton campaign HAS mentioned racism--when they attempted to use it as a bargaining chip. "YOU'RE not racist, but your neighbors are, and they won't vote for a black man--so why nominate an unelectable candidate?" Now Barack Obama has every opportunity to use the same argument on Hillary--"You're not sexist, but those chauvinists next door are..."--but he simply never has. In fact, the Obama campaign has never used fears of a female president to prove his opponent unelectable, but Hillary has been loudly beating the "America isn't ready" drum for two weeks. Some might say this is simply being realistic--I call it opportunism and exploitation of America's worst elements.
And it's another reason why I laugh at the argument that Obama should apologize to Hillary for sexist attacks made by a third party. She's got plenty to apologize for herself, but you can bet neither she nor her supporters ever will do so.
