Question about Campaign Rally Coverage:
Does anyone know if it is on purpose that MSM doesn't show the crowd size or even pan the crowd at political rallies? I have to come here to see crowd photos! I was watching CNN's live coverage of the Obama rally, the reporter commented on "quite a crowd here" but there weren't any shots of just how big it was! they also showed a hillary rally in KY w/out showing the crowd...Just wondering....

1. typical
You won't find a picture of John Kerry's 2004 massive rally in the same venue, on the Internet. Nearly as many people. No photo record available.

5. If they cut from the speakers, they wont be able to dissect thier body language later
24 hour news coverage requires a lot of material.

3. Here's one where Kerry drew 80,000 in Madison, Wisconsin, though

Weird about that Oregon rally, though. I remember that crowd very clearly.

75,000 PRO-OBAMA people were in OR! :woohoo:

9. Absolutely. The fact that Obama is drawing these crowds in a PRIMARY is stunning!
Of course, we DUers hated Bush before hating Bush was cool, so I'm sure some of our faces were in those 2004 crowds, and long before that, as well. :-)

16. There are so pictures
And it was huge, but it was also August, also included Bon Jovi and Leo DiCaprio. I still think today's event was bigger, just from the pictures.

25. did you get that via google?
Cuz I sure didn't turn anything up. I also recall that people complained at the time that photos of crowd didn't make it into MSM.

7. Oh, yeah, I forgot
the scenes in fahrenheit 9/11 on Bush's inauguration and the near riots that we never heard a word about...that should embarrass the corporate media, but I guess not!

15. Oh, wow. Remember after Fahrenheit 9/11 came out?
Some of my friends, who were finally coming around to the basic fact that Bush Sucks were asking me, "Jen, I never knew that part about Al Gore presiding over his own defeat in the House," or "OMG, I never knew people protested Bush's inaugurations!!"

Isn't it sad? :-(

Then, by all means, do enjoy this classic "Moment of Zen" from "The Daily Show."

Trust me on this one. :-)

who drips from self importance and likes drama.

Here's is contact information for anyone who wants it. http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form4.html?98

Think that he's coming back on later on. He may read his emails in the interim. ;)

Hopefully he'll go the way of Rita Cosby, another Fox idiot. MSNBC was smart to ditch her.

8. I have to believe it's intentional. Local coverage here kept panning the crowd.
They did aerial shots that showed the massive crowd and the boats on the river clustered around the park.

22. Boats are elitist
And it's better to talk about them than actually show them. Makes it sound like Obama supporters show up to his rallies on the fantail of their 100ft. yachts.

26. Rowboats are not that elitist. Even good old boys have 'em.
There was a good mix of boats on the river, including rowboats, kayaks, a dragonboat, and 10 to 30 foot boats. But no 100 foot yachts.

27. Oh I know, but if they showed the pictures on TV, which apparently they did not
(local yes, national cable not so much) then the connotations of yachtsmen sipping on their Pimm's Cups while listening to the Obama speech would be greatly diminished.

10. CNN did the same during the Iraq war protests. They minimized the crowd turnouts.
