Hillary's new poster: amusing irony
So, by now everyone and their dog has seen Shepherd Fairey's 'Change' and 'Progress' posters for Obama:

This week, there's a new Hillary poster:

I couldn't help noticing that while Obama is for change, Hillary is for Hillary. Hmm.

Anyway, Ms Browl saw this and wondered if it was an official poster or not, and indeed it is. According to her website it was 'Designed by Hollywood screenwriter Tony Puryear'. I wondered why you would get a screenwriter to design your poster instead of a graphic designer, but hey. But Tony Puryear...where have I heard that name before...oh yes! He's famous for one other thing!

http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTkxOTA2Njc2Nl5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNDExODYxMQ@@._V1._SY400_SX600_.jpg

Hmm...is he trying to make amends for his previous art crimes? Or does he just have a thing for action heroes? After all, Hillary was dodging sniper fire about the same time this Schwarzenegger film (not exactly classic Arnold fare) came out. COINCIDENCE?!?!?!!!!!

The source might be blocking it. That's why you should serve graphics from your own space, like a Photobucket account, rather than steal bandwidth.

7. Is this how Hilbot sees herself in this excerpt below....
From: "The Mao Cult" http://www.iisg.nl/~landsberger/cult2.html

"...But no matter how Mao was depicted, he had to be painted hong, guang, liang (红光凉,red, bright, and shining); no grey was allowed for shading, and the use of black was interpreted as an indication that the artist harbored counter-revolutionary intentions. His face was painted usually in reddish and other warm tones, and in such a way that it appeared smooth and seemed to radiate as the primary source of light in a composition. In many instances, Mao's head seemed to be surrounded by a halo which emanated a divine light, illuminating the faces of the people standing in his presence..."

counterl-revolutionary intentions?????

32. It's clear that the Obama poster is evocative of African-American folk art
Edited on Mon May-19-08 07:54 AM by NewHampshireDem
while Hillary's, on the other hand, is evocative of Maoist propaganda. I'm not really sure how anyone could argue that is a good thing.

On edit: I notice that your link is from photobucket ... is that an official Obama campaign poster?

The saintly glow is definitely a bit much, just like in Hillary's... but her's leaves you wondering if she's making some subtle argument for the Japanese Imperial Army.

8. Um... I kinda like it.
I really do.

Look, I just turned 55. One of the things that I cannot get away from every time I see her is - she is really quite a lovely woman. Yes, it's an image and it's a rendering and you don't see wrinkles and stuff, but I keep going back to - DAYUM she's been through a lot and she still looks pretty damn good for age - what? Sixty? Especially considering the inevitable lack of sleep all these people are suffering. And yes, I know this is a drawing, not a photo, but still. In her photos, in many of them she looks pretty great, pretty elegant, dressing for her figure (note the longer jackets and the elongating one-color outfits - very smart if you think you have crappy hips and thighs - something to which I can relate), the hair flatters her face, and I just think she looks pretty good. She looks like a professional, an executive woman. She's a handsome woman, and she's aged well, particularly when you look at how unexceptional she looked as a younger woman.

Not that I agree with the stuff that's gone on during her campaign and other such things. But I have to admire her for many reasons. I'm proud of the subtle but certain evolution of her campaign - where she's now hitting at bush and mcsame, and not targeting Obama. I think she's dialing down, and trying to do it in a graceful way. I think overall, she's performed well and with grace - and I'm talking over the past couple of decades, considering what all has been thrown at her. She doesn't always get it correct, but she's cutting through fresh snow, sometimes up to nose or even scalp-level. Overall, I give her points. And I'm an Obama supporter.

I like this image. I like a whole bunch of the images I've seen of her. I don't feel the hostility toward her that some feel - here and elsewhere. I see too much of myself in her, as a working mom, a college graduate, something of an achiever although at nowhere near her level. Someone who had to do the suit thing - even if it was pantsuits. I won't ever get past that. She was the first First Lady to whom I could relate on a personal level. That's had a very powerful impact upon my psyche.

Sort of a rambling way to talk about it here. Sorry. But back to the original point - I don't mind that image of Hillary. I think it looks handsome.

we've got to get you a 100 million bucks and show you just what that kind if money can do :)

One of my nightmares, and I've shared it with my wife, is waking up to find Hillary completely naked and sans makeup, hair goo, etc, etc in the bed next to me.. As my sainted old mother used to say, "Thats when you have to decide whether to cut their throat, or Your Own.."..

You'd be amazed at what Hollywood can do, just takes Mondo money :)

15. Oh, yeah
That's a little uncalled for. I'm entirely for Obama and if I wanted to - which I don't - I could list a number of things I object to about Senator Clinton this last few months. But the fact that she doesn't look 30 isn't one of them. I'm a couple of years younger than she is and I wish I looked as good.

about aging..

Saw my grandma naked by accident as a little kid, it horrified me that the human body could Decay so much, teeth in a glass by the bed..

Get off the PC high horse, aging IS a fact, and there's nothing Pretty about it physically.

Fact..

Now mentally we also all get a shot at Senile Dementia too, another Cute item..

Once again, the mini-minds attack, tho its themselves they should be looking at in the mirror :)

Of course the Trillion dollar "Make me Young!" market exists in a void?

Get real, if anything the woman is Ugly where it counts the most -- in her Mind.

I've seen the picture of her and also Schwartzenegger minus makeup, and THAT is what reminded me of the $$$ Hollywood miracle non-aging machine..

33. There's a little movie
Edited on Mon May-19-08 08:23 AM by FlaGranny
called "Boynton Beach Club" about a bunch of older people's romances. In one memorable scene, one of the men is telling another one about having sex for the first time after becoming a widower. Says it's different than with your wife or when when you're young, as you realize for the first time you're actually going to have sex with an old person. Something like that. Gave this elderly woman a chuckle.

38. Lol! That's funny!
I had a crude old construction guy tell me that now that he was old each partner was very grateful for sex, as they think it may be the last time :)

From what I've heard having worked in the Mental Health industry is that sex is rife in the old folks home, no chance of pregnancy, close quarters, etc..

Gonna look for that film, thanks!

I've also seen many beautiful older women who need no make up, they don't need to plaster it on like Tammy Fay Baker..

Like I said, her being a liar makes her Ugly inside..

I'm GLAD she would have nothing to do with me, as I don't associate with morally bankrupt folks like her :)
