and are so ready to write it off just because they "think" it tarnishes their perfect candidate.

1. Of course sexism exists.
Some people will always be sexist. Some will always be racists. Some will always hate Jews. The world is filled with ignorant assholes.

Oh really?

http://thepage.time.com/2008/05/19/ferraro-i-might-not-vote-for-obama/

Nobody ever said sexism doesn't exist, but to say Obama or his campaign has been "terribly sexist" without providing any clear examples is just bullshit.

4. Sexcism exists, that's why Obama is the best choice of the two
Obama vs. McCain is a no brainer. the only way to help stop sexism is vote Obama.

I'm truly sorry that your candidate did not win the nomination, but we must defeat teh anti-feminist candidate, John McCain. If not, you will see equal pay overturned at the SCOTUS level.

7. Then how the hell could it tarnish him???
What the hell is your point? Just another attempt to sloppily throw "Obama" and "sexist" into the same post again? Disgusting, especially since you amateur propagandists can never provide a SINGLE INSTANCE of sexism from Obama.

But keep up the throes of death screaming and squirming, it's funny to watch.

10. As a woman, I believe it exists, but I also believe some use loosely and eagerly even when it
doesn't apply or have a place.

11. Saying that Obama has not run a sexist campaign is not the same thing as saying that...
sexism doesn't exist or that it hasn't been a good part of the coverage.

Anyone looking at the coverage who doesn't see sexist comments really has some serious blinders on. This is VERY different, however, from folks like Fararro who have publicly said they probably aren't voting for Obama because he's sexist. That's bullshit from a Clinton surrogate for public consumption, that has no other purpose than trying to further flame the anger, and to hopefully influence history's view of why Hillary lost.

12. Obama and his campaign are accused of sexism daily on DU.
Yet no one has been able to provide a single example of where they've committed it.

13. Of course sexism exists,
and of course the media have been the largest perpetrators of it. I resent Obama being blamed for it by some people without a single example of him implying that Hillary wouldn't be a very capable President, because of her gender or otherwise.

I don't think my candidate is perfect, but I don't think it is fair to label him something he clearly is not. How could he be when he's married to such a strong, outspoken female as Michelle?

The thing you say about "nobody ever said Obama was a sexist," well, that's just not true. Plenty of people here have said exactly that, and now Geraldine Ferraro is making the claim as her reason for possibly not voting for him.

14. All the more reason they shouldn't vote for McCain, as sexism exists a lot more on the GOP.
Edited on Mon May-19-08 11:04 AM by Forkboy
Hard to take some people seriously when they claim to care about sexism then threaten to vote for, or at least help by not voting for Obama, someone who calls his wife a cunt.

There is definitely some sexism in the Democratic party, so let's work together to address the problem instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

15. Nobody said it doesn't exist.
What we're saying is that Obama personally never made sexist remarks and that sexism is hardly the main reason Hillary has lost -- bad management and a Super Tuesday campaign is.

1. There are people here who think "sexism doesn't exist"
2. "Nobody ever said Obama was a sexist lout."
