our first female president and who would vote for fellow senior citizen McBush3, the status quo male candidate, instead.

If Richardson had been nominated, there would have been a certain contingency of senior citizens afraid to vote the first Latino president and who would have voted for the old white candidate instead.

Now that Obama is our nominee, we should not be surprised that Geraldine Ferraro expresses her hesitation to vote for the candidate who will be the first multi-racial president in the history of the United States and who will bring about change from the McBush3-Ferraro-Clinton model of government which some people have grown complacent about and comfortable with.

Whether they are agents of intolerance or merely agents of complacency, we cannot be too surprised by their attitudes or let them dictate our vote.

1. I think you have a similar thing going on with Obama
seniors, and the first African American president.

In the end, it's a wash between the two Democrats.

4. I am a senior and for Obama.
You know JFK put an It/Am in his Cab. and that was scary to some people. Some thing new is apt to be scary to some people. We like to keep what we know. It is the same if you go into a picture gallery and just will not look at the new art or anything that is new. Thank God we are not all like that or we would be still looking to wards Queen Elizabeth as the figure head of state and be out feeding the carriage horses. Change is always with us but some people never figure that one out.

2. Ferraro isn't doing it out of fear, she's doing it out of spite.
Damn she gives women a bad name. How embarrassing.

10. Alot of senior citizens are racist. They were racist when they were younger in the 60's alot of them
Edited on Mon May-19-08 12:04 PM by ej510
contributed to the murdering of thousands of blacks in the 60's and either earlier or even the 60's though the early 80's. And I mean white senior citizens yeah there were also alot of good white people that went out of their way to helps black people as well. But there were too many racist and most of them are still alive. They're just old.

11. Geez, a lot of you seem to have an 'axe' out for seniors...
why is that?

Every time seniors attempt to get voluntary euthanasia into a bill...it is shot down.

The last chuckle from we seniors is that those younger who don't like seniors will be one themselves one day. Call it payback.

Seniors are like the rest of the population...all shapes, sizes, colors, and mindsets. Do try hard not to lump us all together.

12. My objection is only with those seniors like Ferraro who fear the change Obama offers and react with
racial divisiveness.

It is racists that I have an axe out for, not seniors.

I only mention Ferraro's status as a senior politician because she has been involved in the status quo of politics for so long that the change Obama embodies must particularly threaten her. I choose this explanation for her bizarre conduct because I'd rather think that she would not react in such a racially divisive manner if she was not operating under the cloud of fear.
