Oregon's already voted, right?
You mail your ballots in, don't you?

Are ballots mailed in the day of the primary counted?

3. Well, it continues until tomorrow.
But I believe that ballots must *ARRIVE* by close-of-business
tomorrow in order to be counted.

4. We use special boxes on election days.
They don't go through the normal mail. They let is know when the cut off to stick them in the normal mail is. Or you can vote in person.

6. I can't find anything on there about how the count of mail-ins is handled
-or if those totals are reported along with the totals from tomorrows drop-offs.

I did see that nearly 583,000 ballots have already been delivered. -Wonder how that stacks up historically.

10. That's already over 200,000 more than voted in the OR 2004 primary!
According to TheGreenPapers, 368,544 folks voted in the 2004 primary. So if they've gotten 583,000 ballots to date, I wonder how many more will come in thru tomorrow?

Another point of comparison: 943,163 OR democrats voted in the GE for Kerry in 2004.

This primary is definitely engaging the American populace!

15. Taking a look at the .pdf links gives you a better analysis
http://www.oregonvotes.org/

Under ballot return statistics: cumulative and historic

582,998 have been returned through last Thursday (5/15)
423,201 had been returned through Thursday in 2004
About a 38% increase in voting this year through the Thursday before primary day

(Don't forget these total returns include the GOP ballots)

In 2004, 50% of the ballots came in on Friday through Tuesday

Extrapolating this data it looks like another 50% of those coming will be in on Friday-Tuesday so we can expect total turnout to be about 2 x 582,998 = 1,165,996
which is 57% turnout statewide

In 2004 the total vote was 856,482 which was about 46% of registered voters.

We shall see how it all comes out in the end but it looks like a BIG increase in voter participation at about +36% over 2004 Primary

7. How are exit polls conducted, if nobody's exiting?
No matter, the polls close too late for me to watch anyway. You left-coast people set your clocks strange.

8. We have had our ballots for about three weeks now...
I mailed mine just a day or two after I received it. The deadline to have it in (by mail, or drop off box) is 7 tomorrow evening. The results come in quick but you east coasters will have to wait till bedtime...:)

18. May cause no glitches, but some people will get two ballots
The second envelope bar code cancels the first one so they are not *expecting* any problems...hopefully HRC won't see this as an excuse to try and fight an Obama win---the way she grasps at straws and all that!

http://blog.oregonlive.com/breakingnews/2008/05/big_primary_puts_spotlight_on.html

The tight race between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama has attracted national attention not only to Tuesday's election but to Oregon's unique vote-by-mail system.

<snip>

With so much at stake, the last thing Secretary of State Bill Bradbury wants is an election day snafu. That's why he was "hugely concerned" after the state mailed 33,500 Oregonians two ballots apiece for Tuesday's election.

Those voters changed their party registration close to the April 29 deadline, after election officials had prepared ballots for mailing. The voters each received a ballot based on their old information and one with their updated registration.

The Clinton and Obama campaigns are watching closely. Spokesmen for both campaigns say they aren't aware of problems and expect everyone to vote as intended -- once. "However, we'll wait and see how it goes," says Obama spokesman Nick Shapiro.
