Buffett backs Obama

Warren Buffett, who has flirted with both Democrats, comes out for Obama at a Frankfurt press conference on the grounds that it's over.

"He is my man," he says.

US billionaire Buffett backs Obama for president

FRANKFURT (AFP) - Warren Buffett, the world's richest man, is backing Barak Obama for US president and thinks current US economic policy will push the dollar lower against other global currencies

Buffett told a press conference here Monday he had offered support to both Obama and Democratic rival Hillary Clinton but that since it appeared Obama would win the party's nomination, "I will be very happy if he is elected president.

"He is my choice," Buffett said.

Commenting on the US economy, the 77-year-old investor who is known as the "Sage of Omaha," stressed that fiscal, monetary and trade policies were of great importance.

But it's great to hear it again. No wonder they call him the Oracle of Omaha.

25. No matter how you try and spin it, he didn't have to
endorse anyone. If he really wanted Hillary but simply went for Obama because he's the nominee, then why even make a statement? Buffet is not a superdelegate. He didn't have to say anything. The fact that he did means that he *genuinely* thinks Obama is the best candidate.

Geez, the grapes must be especially sour today... :(

27. I am an Obama supporter just explaining the facts
Buffett did not issue an statement today. He had a press conference in Frankfurt where he was asked this question and he answered it as the OP stated.

I was trying to make it clear that Warren was not in the tank for Obama from the get go and that he had supported Hillary during this primary.

34. Actually I heard that he never supported *either* candidate...
He held fundraisers for both candidates earlier on. Like many, he probably thought that Hillary would be the victor for obvious reasons but I never heard him explicitly state or imply that he was supporting Hillary.

39.  Re-read OP backing both is clear
He supported BOTH during the early days of the primary. Held a fundraiser for Clinton and two for Obama.

Didn't realize that he hadn't officially endorsed. Looks like he'd be happy with both Democrats, which is a good thing. At this point, he just thinks Obama would be a better President.
