Hillary Clinton vs. The Democratic Party of the United States
OK, Obama supporters, how many times have you thought it was over and then it turned out that Hillary Clinton was still running? How many times have you settled into a state of mind to bring unity to the party and press on against McCain and then you turn on your television to see Hillary Clinton attack Obama and continue her campaign? And yet, I don't think most of you realize how far, how crazy, and how damaging this could get. After Indiana and North Carolina, I will no longer be surprised when it should end but doesn't.

So now you think the last primary will be the end? You think it will be the Convention? Think again. Imagine the upcoming courtroom drama: Hillary Clinton vs. The Democratic Party of the United States. The media would squeal in such ecstasy as they haven't since O.J. You think it matters that her campaign is in debt up to her eyeballs? Do you really think it matters that she can't win no matter how you count it anymore? Think again. She believed her victory was inevitable, and everyone who mattered told her the same thing: "Nothing can stop you, you will be president." It was a damned guarantee. But then it all just vanished. Against all odds, some usurping David out-maneuvered her Goliath.

People handle defeat and loss in different ways. Some people accept it and move on. Some people fall into depression and blame others. And then there are some who rage and destroy everything around them in a colossal tantrum. Make no mistake: Hillary Clinton has the power to throw this election to McCain and alienate millions of Democratic voters for a long, long time. Millions of people voted for her, and many of them love her so much that they will follow her no matter where she goes. Just a couple days ago I read a letter to the editor in USA Today from a Hillary supporter declaring her intention to vote for McCain if Obama wins. Her stated reason was that "throwing Hillary under the bus" must have its "consequences." Got that? She will vote for McCain not because he is her second choice regarding policy and record, but for pure spite. Let's hope Hillary is a better person than the author of this letter. Because Democratic victory, as much as anything else, depends on how Hillary handles defeat and loss.

2. Her career as a politician will be over if she fights past June. Simple as that.
