his steadfast opposition to the Iraq War and support of the Constitution.

An excerpt from his book, "Losing America -Confronting A Reckless And Arrogant Presidency", Copyright 2004 Robert C. Byrd.

Chapter Eight: Selling The War, p. 197

I had continued to speak out on the war, right to the day it began--in fact, I had delivered more than sixty speeches on the Senate floor in opposition to the war in Iraq. I gave interviews whenever requested. I pushed the idea of getting international help. My speeches had prompted thousands of calls, e-mails, and faxes to my office. Often the comments were supportive, suggesting a hunger to hear another side to the Bush propaganda. I didn't hear much from my own constituents in West Virginia. Most of the stir came from outside my state. As the speeches received more attention, an ugly tone emerged--"old man", "senile", "a traitor", "KKK"-- but most were supportive. Before each speech, my staffers would cringe and hunker down for the onslaught.

2. The real question is: What does Byrd think of
Rich Rodriguez?
