We are on the eve of something truly special, something I thought I'd never see in my lifetime. So here's to my old high school friend Joe, the only black kid in a graduation class of 435 kids in Bergenfield, New Jersey. The year was 1964 and as Joe and I sat talking one night he spoke of his hopes that in his lifetime his kids or his grandkids could one day grow up to believe they could be President. I don't know what happened to you Joe or where you've gone to over the years, but here's to you and to all the Joes out there who dared to dream:
